I built these a while ago and pulled up the pickup photos today for an orange theme in a Facebook model group. So I thought I’d share them as a pair here.

Pickup was built as part of the 24 Hour Build a few years ago. No, I didn’t finish in time!  I did make the 24 Hour Builders decals.

The finicky fit and cleanup requirements of this kit took me quite a bit longer. I glued the doors shut and made appropriate size hinges to match the van.

I also did a matching license plate.

Once I was way beyond the time requirements I decided to have some fun and made this exhaust system. Used the kit 273 engine with zero detail since it’s buried up there. Once I glued the doors shut, I had to glue the interior engine cover in place.

I did make bases for some custom buckets. I added my usual seat belts and glued down some paper with the pattern on it for carpet mats

The van was done earlier and was a long languishing project. I finally finished it one year as a Christmas Amnesty Project.

It is the Jimmy Flintstone resin body.

It’s a replica of a van a friend drove back in 1977, as close as memory will allow. I posted it in my town’s Facebook group and people identified it!

My buddy Don had the rearranged letters to spell DOG. The plate is a tribute to him.

The van was brush painted over riveted rust repairs and I tried to capture that aura.

Greatful Dead stickers were saved for years, came from my cd club newsletter before we had the option to size and print our own!

The real van had a slant six so I included one. I only finished the bottom end of a scrap engine from an old built up. I made exhaust.

Interior used a sheet of self adhesive doll house carpet.

I hope you enjoyed seeing this pair!

Very cool , I’ve always liked this dodge truck and van , for a short time back in the early 90’s I owned a van like this ,a ‘67 I believe, but it had side doors on both sides , you could see right though it when the doors were open, the guy before me had put a 440 in it , hauled butt but very hard to handle!!!
