Nice figures.  I think it's kind of interesting that the guy in the blazer looks quite Japanese in one photo, and quite Caucasian in another photo.  Different heads in the set?  I like the scooter, too.

This brings back a lot of memory from the time I built the original set when I was still in primary school.  It is interesting to compare this new set from the old one.

- Eventhough the boxart still shows a university, instead of the brats from prestigious university districts you now get everyday folks that are equally at home in Shibuya.

- Tennis is out, VAN branded paper bag is out, the preppy look is out.  Tapioca milk tea is in, guitar is in, selfie is in.

- Instead of 2 guys and 3 girls, you get one guy and 4 girls now.  The facial expression is also far better in this new set, I wonder they were modeled from 3D scans like the figure in the Toyoda AA and the ND Miata.

A selfie girl? Suddenly I'm no longer interested in any of these people.

On second thought, I guess we're lucky that the other four don't also have their heads buried in their phones.

The little scooter and all the other accessories are just as interesting as the figures.

Tamiya has done a full run of 1/24 scooters . They were bonus parts to car kits, and available as a set of 4 . They also did a run of 1/12 scooters .... ask me how I know ??? it’s an obsession ....

If they come to Australia I will be getting a couple!  Good to see a rather international approach to the styling.  About the only  thing I would foresee modifying is the long skirt on one girl - not something we would normally see around our streets.  Everything else is very contemporary and the phone, as much as I hate to say it, is "on-trend" and the sort of thing that a non -modeller will get a big kick out of when they see it in your diorama.

Cheers

Alan
