Tamiya Exotica - Honda NSX and Ferrari Mythos

A couple of early-mid 1990s builds here that I dragged out of the cabinet for last Sunday's photoshoot - looks like they pre-date the time when I started using clear red and orange paint for lights and indicators.

I think the paint was an automotive Ford colour that didn't need clearcoat, I wasn't using Micromesh or the like back then. Wish I knew what I used for the metallic finish underneath, it worked nicely. Roof was brush-painted gloss black Humbrol.

Still very happy with this one, and I recall it being a very well-engineered kit that was a joy to put together. I bought another one just recently.

Odd-looking thing. I couldn't build it completely standard, so painted it yellow. Don't think I knew about PVA or similar for gluing clear back in those days, which I presume is where the bit of damage on the edge of the windscreen is from. Sorry about the dust......

Both look cracking builds, and I love the NSX... what a car! I must admit when I saw one IRL for the first time, I was surprised by how small they are.
I’m afraid I parted out the charity shop Mythos in my stash... it just looks like a kit car Lamborghini to me....

best,

M.

Mythos is such a cool car!

Thanks, and funny to see the different opinions on the Mythos! It's not something I'm particularly excited about now, I much prefer more 'normal' cars, and even then I wondered what I found appealing about it.

Honda NSX is one supercar I'd have in real life. My fondness for them was probably encouraged by building this model, same as it was the Lexus LS400/Toyota Celsior - which I'm now lucky enough to be enjoying at 1:1. Deeply unlikely I'll ever have a real NSX however....
