1/25 Moebius 1952 Hudson Hornet Convertible

Good afternoon everyone, hands are itching to the point of modeling and here it is a "new" box on my bench.

I bought it from my hands a couple of years ago and finally, morally I came to her.

IMG_5103.JPG.ca9d41874bec91e24e7972b5deda37df.JPG

Moebius, what can I say. Very much heard, mostly seen on YouTube with assemblies and reviews of Ford pickups. But, opening the box and starting to review the sprues, the rose-colored glasses shattered. But here I am giving an amendment to the fact that I have an early Moebius - 2011 release and now they have improved.

Let's start with the body.

Everything seems to be fine.

But here they are - the first bells.

Well, such a thing. Nothing really scary and incorrigible, but hell it. This is Moebius

Okay, let's look further.

Undercarriage.

It smiled, it looks like seat belts, until I found these parts in the instructions.

A flash, again a stone in the Mobius garden.

The tidy is sad, everything is purely for decals, which, by the way, were not in my box. It is clear that he took it from his hands ... but, it's a shame.

I chose the color scheme for a long time, I will paint with acrylics from Tamiya - two-tone body and interior.

As a result, a bit of a controversial "high" quality, as Moebius claim in his web site. Well, when buying boxes from your hands, be careful. I am missing the part of the exhaust system that connects the exhaust manifold to the pipe, decals and wheels with whitewalls.

I'll try to write to the manufacturer, maybe they will send me the missing one. Who knows. While I'm going to collect photo references and in a couple of days I will start preparing the details.

Thanks for reading.

I have not built my convertible kit yet but the coupe version built perfectly. My only suggestion would be when you start the assembly of all the parts stay very close to the way the instructions suggest. Because of the fine fit and finish on the Moebuis kits they go together best if you follow their instructions.

Good afternoon, everyone, comrades.
Details are being processed. The construction is in progress.
Engine before processing parts.

IMG_5156.JPG.6b1d5ae8a24bd13e9f4006cc851f5ba2.JPG

After.

IMG_5159.JPG.0e04cc3204d70478971379a75071042c.JPG

Frame and suspension parts - after.

IMG_5163.JPG.b4d47df0ee7f2ad1b0ccafa825d007f0.JPG

There were several nuances that I decided to highlight. This sway bar was originally very long at the ends, I did not have time to take a picture before. Here I cut off half, otherwise it would not fit with the rest of the details.

IMG_5164.JPG.3d7fcc20e2fefaf873af1301c8d61b90.JPG

Well, in the undercarriage, 2 holes had to be increased, since the frame did not dock.

IMG_5165.JPG.f53b3ccefc2316961cbaa62713ba944e.JPG

That's all for now.

Meanwhile, the construction site does not stand still.

When reassembling the cabin, it turned out that there are good slots in the back of the door cards at the point where they are joined to the back seats.

If I was building a hardtop, I would score, because it wouldn't be visible after assembly, but here is a convertible.: D

We take 2k putty from Tamia and sculpt.

IMG_5193.JPG.1a47f682609731113e1b92220c7ee54e.JPG

Then we had to cut out the holes for attaching the hood, initially we were asked to either glue the fasteners from the set here, but then the body would always be in the open position, or not to glue these fasteners and the hood would simply be placed on top and removed.IMG_5195.JPG.39636c85aed4b1b71305d48fc26d8a13.JPG

I had to invent the arithmetic mean. Yes, I know, not canon, but there was no desire to bother with it.

Next, I decided to make an open-close mechanism. At first I tried to cut and make from what is given in the kit.

IMG_5197.JPG.92fe1e9b75ae25019b169f813ac7bf9f.JPG

Then I realized that it was easier from scratch and made it out of a sheet eraser and metal wire.

The exit should be great.

Door handles. How Moebius sees them.

IMG_5204.JPG.14816716ffc6f422b5dfaac55b14b101.JPG

As I see them.

Resin door handles always help out.

Well, everything is in the primer.

IMG_5234.JPG.ec206abefab22eefdaa31c5e43687e34.JPG

I never cease to rejoice with the nitro Gunze primer. Tamiya is now an outsider for me, I will only use Gunze.

Tomorrow I plan to paint everything in colors.

That's all for today. Thanks for your attention.?

Good afternoon friends.?

The construction is moving slower than I would like, because judging by the track, my decks and tires with whitewalls left Los Angeles on the 15th, I hope that in 2 weeks they will reach, otherwise I will have to stand and wait, without decks, I feel like no hands.

Well, okay, I was different.

Body, hood and dashboard in 2K clear. Next Friday I'll start polishing. This time I decided to experiment. BMF made to varnish.

IMG_5241.JPG.c6e55689a355051c7fc8c711da5a1f06.JPG

But I will not repeat this experiment any more. It seemed to me that 2k clear somehow influenced (something like softened "corroded" BMF). Not critical, not fatal, after all, it was an experiment.
And the sweetest thing for me. The engine is done! It remains for him to try on the decks for air filters, as they come.

The air filters themselves were made from the edge of a paper tea bag. They are sold in pharmacies, such square ones. They have very pronounced corrugated edges. I pasted it on PVA, then matte white acrylic on top and a black wash from Tamia.

That's all for now.?

Meanwhile, I completed the bottom and partly the interior.

In the salon, I just put the door cards on. Instead of flock, this time I used velvet paper dyed in the interior color, the impressions from working with it are extremely positive.

Roman, your painting skills are excellent. Just out of curiosity, do you model figures as well as cars? The way you detail paint suggests that you have brought over some figure painting techniques and used them to advantage on this model. I am following this build with interest. This will be a really outstanding model when completed.

In the meantime, I installed the engine in place and glued all the interior parts except the steering wheel and dashboard.

Well, I polished it. This time I used only the first - red polish from Tamia, and the 2nd and 3rd steps were polished with 3M purchased for bottling.

No, I only build car models, I have never painted figures.

Good evening everyone. Last update. Yesterday, with my pants full of joy, I went to the post office to pick up my package from Moebius:

IMG_5280.JPG.5e9f1c469fcdd1417f7c2f88d7b0674d.JPG

But the joy was relative, the decals were of disgusting quality. This is the first time I have met this in 14 assembled models. ?

Almost all decals, except for 2, began to tear, and the fact that I centered them with a soft brush was very accurate. Moreover, they were torn into segments, as if they were cut into strips. Maybe Moebius put me a deck, which is many years old, or a poor-quality print. Well, God is with them, almost nowhere to be seen, killed 2 hours to unite them and it would be unnoticeable.

Well, I finished today.? My wife said that she liked the result very much, me too.

A couple of photos for a start and wait in the finished ones. On Saturday I plan to take pictures in the air.
