Steve H
Hi all, this is a replica of the only car my dad ever bought new. This is about as close to a box sock build as I get. I swapped out the 409 four speed for a 283 automatic, and added some basic wiring for the motor. Added a column shift with scratch built gear indicator on top of steering column. The paint is dupli colour touch up paint in the exact colour of my dads car. The kit supplied the decal for seat pattern. I was born in Long Beach California, so the license plates are same vintage as originals on dads real car. This is one of my favourite builds, I gave it to my dad about a year before he passed away. I was thrilled when the car made the 2015 contest cars issue which my dad saw before he passed. What a wonderful tribute to have for my dad. He started me in the hobby, and gave me my passion for cars. He was not mechanical, nor am I, he just loved cars, and so do I. Thanks for looking Cheers, Steve
Misha
That’s a very sweet ride Steve and a wonderful tribute build of your Dad’s car with the additional recognition it has received. Your story rings a lot of memories of my father who bought his first new car in ‘66, a Plymouth Satellite 2dr hardtop off the showroom floor. Thanks for sharing the build and your memories. Cheers Misha
Spottedlaurel
Very nice, sounds like a great tribute and very cleanly built. The colour looks excellent. Did your dad keep the original for long?
doorsovdoon
Very nice. I'd love to do a car for my dad, but no kits exist of any of the cars he's ever had.

Did your dad keep the original for long? Hi Nigel, he kept the car til ‘79, it was then given to my brother when he turned 16. (I am 5 years younger) My brother had it for another 5 years or so. He put a 350 in it and painted it a similar but darker shade of metallic blue. I may replicate that car in the future too. Thanks for looking, Steve

64Comet404
Great looking build, Steve, love what you have done with the kit. I have a similar project planned to replicate my dad's '62 Impala convertible (his first car, and the car he drove when my parents first met). Have the kit, now need the time to build it!
