1979 Toyota MK41 Mark II [Aoshima]

In 2009, I bought a few Aoshima "bosozoku/shakotan" series kits, as they offered additional aftermarket wheels and extra decals.

I actually had painted and polished the body (Tamiya Mica Red (TS-39) and clear, polished with Tamiya three-stage compounds) and buried it in my closet in 2009 and picked it up again a few weeks ago.

It's a curbside kit with very basic underbody and interior, so I focused on just finishing it up with BMF. The front grill was bit tricky, in retrospect I should've painted it in black, then dry brush the silver, not the other way around.

Thank you for looking!

If they can look that good I wouldn't mind that they are curbside. They would still look fantastic on the shelf.

Thank you! I find Aoshima typically nails the body proportion while they skimp on the underbody & interior.

That one is pretty cool. The back end looks a lot like a first gen prelude!

Final result is awesome. I love these old aoshima kits.

It does look like the prelude a lot - and front end reminds me the Ford Pinto!

Nice colour , looking fwd to trying it on the Tamiya Mazda Savanna .

After the Tamiya 3 compounds could I finish off with their wax , or not necessary ?

I thought we saw a MK41 go flying by us once on the DVP !

Thanks! I think it'll suit really well. I personally haven't used the wax, but based on the review, it works just like an automotive wax to "fill in" the microscratches that might stay after the polish.
