1972-1976 Duster Wheel Covers

Recommended Posts

I found --and purchased-- these awesome Plymouth Duster Wheel Covers ( 1972-1976 ) from Shapeways ! 100% perfect for my 1973 Duster build (going to make this build as close as possible to my 1:1 Duster which I owned back in 1992) .

That's our friend Rico from the board.

Cool ! I should message him and see if he's interested in making the 1971 Plymouth 14" Deluxe Wheel Covers ( think : the Valiant in Duel ) .

He goes by camaro69 on the board. I believe that he tooled up the '63 Ford hubcaps for a member here.

I got a set of those, and the relief is so fine (after plating), I had to do all the black areas with decals. Ended up looking pretty good. Mine are for for a Scamp.

Thanks for the heads-up regarding the character lines of the wheel covers . I'd figured that they were going to be faint with minimal , thin coats of primer and paint ( I have a can of 'Stainless Steel' that I'm going to be using ) . The reliefs will be treated to Tamiya Panel Line Accent ( Black ) .

What year of the Scamp are you building ? Is it based-upon the resin 1971/1972 kit that was around ( Bandit Resin ? ) a few years ago ?

It's a 1974. If I ever finish it.

Hey guys,

thank you for your feedback. If there are any issues with the parts please feel free to let me know. Maybe you can even tell me if I should do the details not so small for easier painting?

@ Tom: I was wondering if you could send me a pic of your finished covers that I maybe can use for the item description at my shop?

Rico

The parts which I had purchased are supposed to arrive today ( 24.11 ) , as they are at the local postal office as of 07:38 HRS ( PST ) .

I have a can of aerosol stainless steel paint --- I will share photos of the wheel covers as soon as possible .

Rico , I just received those wonderful wheel covers ( 25.11.2020 at 17:45 PST ) , and they look fantastic !

I am going to wash them ( soap & water would be the best route , no ? ) , let them air-dry , then prime and paint them tomorrow (maybe prime tonight , barring any wind) .

I will let you know if there are any depth-issues with the covers' character lines ( again , Tamiya's Black Panel Line Accent will be employed) .

Thank you much for not only the prompt production , but for the prompt shipping ( two weeks' turn around time for a specialised product whose origins are in Germany is outstanding ! )
