Nah!  Sans the tire chains.  With this amount of weight and the blower doing all of the work you wouldn't need them.  Hard to get them into scale anyway.  JMHO!!?

I like the reasoning behind this lol  save those chains for a plow truck

Update time and its a colorful one...

The mesh arrived yesterday so I framed in the walkway w U strip and a popsicle width strips of screen. 20210115_160114.thumb.jpg.1a73feb1a1557cd06f9f5c3961be4a05.jpg

The radiator opening for the blower engine also received a patch of screen , ill frame it in w narrow 020 strip and meng bolts right before primer

After the last mockup, the major parts were transferred to the paint side of the shop and received a light coat of tamiya red oxide fine primer . I chose this color to darken the final color into a goldenrod shade seen on the NYSDOT trucks .

We have color  !!!! Ended up using tamiya camel yellow after chrome yellow can was dud . As per norm w yellow coverage was poor and several coats were needed . This will be weathered so gloss wasnt a factor .  Once the paint cures ill spray the black hood and blue warning stripes on back20210118_154326.thumb.jpg.67c4bd10799c067dd1ad26d6be85a1ea.jpg

Wow Jeff the yellow really brings out all your little details that is making this awesome!

Glad it worked out that way too, seems some colors bury details . I'll take a few around truck once its cured more . I gotta break out the airbrush to add all the larger color sections , black stripes, hood and the bank cutters are red oxide ..whew a huge way to go

I'm liking it!  The expanded metal screen really looks right.  Just asking:  How does that whole mechanism get raised up for travel?  Hydraulic pistons up front of the grill?

Not sure about this beast but I had to move one similar at NJDOT years ago, was a 1960's vintage International with the blower on the front and second engine on the flatbed.  IIRC, it was air pressure that raised the blower assembly for travel as she had to build air pressure after I started her before I could lift the blower.  The one I moved didn't need the aux engine running in order to lift the blower, ran off the main engine.  The blower itself ran off of hydraulics, the hydro pump was on the aux engine.

Charles  - there's a large hydraulic cylinder right below the grill that raises the blower kinda right behind front tires .

Very nice.   You're a much faster builder than I am.   I don't think I could do that in a whole year.

Thanks its surprisingly going together quickly

All I can say is that I wish I bought some stock in a couple of styrene companies before you started this project.

Haahahaa its always how that goes right..no insider tips either to plan ahead just WHAM..I actually didn't burn through much this time..stocking up on 11 blades was key

Update time !!! Sprayed a few detail colors on the truck once paint has plenty of drying time . The anti glare hood , and chute was airbrushed w flat black, then the blue  DOT stripes sprayed across the blower engine compartment.  The bank cutters also got a squirt of red primer.  Looking at the chute photos I gotta add more black along the sides..20210129_120323.thumb.jpg.69f57e4ec3e34a2e7192fa585abe1d03.jpg
