junkyardjeff
Built it back in the mid 70s and was eventually going to get around to restoring it but the scenes Unlimited tires and rims came in so its going to be done sooner,I will get the tires tucked it better when I fix the suspension. I wish the original camper special rims were made since it could use some wider rims on the rear but these will do and thinking about putting the six from a Mobius kit in it,those tires are much better then what came with it. junkyardjeff
The Mobius six will fit and will be using the rear step bumper from the 70 F 100,thinking about just rebuilding the chassis and leaving the body alone and do a little more detailing. junkyardjeff
Made a lighter duty truck 4 speed from the one in the Lindberg Dodge cabover then find the all black one I did not know I had,it will be going on the 300 six. mchook
Your painting it? Man, I figured some weathering on it and you would have a nice looking work truck. Nice work so far, keep it going.
Mopar - D
Very nice and interesting rebuild.
junkyardjeff
The reason I was not going to paint it is I thought I was going to break the windows trying to remove them but was able to get them out without doing any more damage,it was a crappy repaint I done back in the early 80s so time to fix it right. Supersport65
I can't get enough of these dent sides. I just bought another one to replicate my late uncles 79 ranger. I already have 2 going right now though.
Repstock
Seems an odd combination. An extended wheelbase F-350 Super Camper Special full of heavy duty components, with a six. I'm not slamming, because there is no reason a truck could not be ordered this way. Makes you wonder about the back story for this truck, why the original owner ordered it this way. Adds to the mystique!
junkyardjeff
I had that six and it needed a home and put a truck 4 speed behind it and I like strangely optioned vehicles. Last summer I bought a 65 mercury Montclair breezeway sedan that had a 3 speed with o/d with a/c and delayed wipers.
Sam I Am
A kid I went to high school with, his dad had a mint condition one ton camper special, I belive it was a '78 or 9. With that longer wheelbase to move the weight of the camper forward made it handle much better, and moving the spare to the side of the bed with that door to access it was done, IIRC, for a larger auxiliary fuel tank. Those deep dish steel rims with the wider tires made it more stable, and don't forget that extendable rear bumper that would slide out to the end of the camper. A serious factory hauler for sure. junkyardjeff
I bought a 77 to get the 460,it did not have the wide rear rims and the frame was weak but if it was nicer it would not have gotten parted out.
