Absolutely fellas! Bring on the Corvairs! I welcome any re-released kits that had previous race inspired box art work. Example: (AMT 53 Studebaker)

This is a question I was going to ask, I may keep the Jag for something else and build a Mustang something since my previous two finished builds were Mustangs.

100%!!! I predicted there my be some change of heart situations with this theme because there are so many options and in some cases it's best to not overthink your build... I'm willing to let y'all swap out projects as many times as you wish until you get the "right" one ? ... up until the last 48 hrs that is... If I hit a roadblock? I don't sit and wait to be inspired It's time to move on... I'm thinking on the daily about stand in projects just in case my kits aren't on the China train...?

Well, I am almost done with the chrome. 1960 Impalas have a large amount of chrome. This will help with it being in disguise. Looks like a street rod, race car underneath.

The wheels I ordered came in, they have 3 bar sinners, not sure if I will use them or not, we will see.

I am on hold for a week or 2 till the engine I ordered comes in. However, I still have a ton of time, so I am not worried.

I have a lot of work let to do to the chassis, but I need the engine before some of it can get done. I will fix the chrome on the front fender, I just need it to be dry before I screw it up worse.

I got started on mine.

I decided I'd paint it silver, I figured nobody is going to pay attention to a silver Accord.

I won't be using the spoiler, I thought it would draw too much attention, so I filled in the holes.

I found some street tires that fit the kit wheel and I grabbed some extra fuel cells out of my parts box to minimize fuel stops.

You guys mind if I jump in with a Kevin harvick nascar dressed up to look like a Pontiac GTO?

Now you're talking! Two-Lane Blacktop with a Nascar hiding under GTO sheet metal ???

Just make sure the driver tells the truth about what he has under the hood! ???

??? that's a great idea! And I do think you could probably go to LA and back to NY with that much fuel ? especially in a Honda they get Awesome mileage.?

The guy who currently holds the record (in the video posted in last year's build thread) used 260 gallons of fuel. It wasn't a Honda, though.

Yeah it’ll probably get some sort of forced induction hiding under the hood......

I got it mocked up after a little trimming. 6A69B580-816D-4A89-A17E-E7DEFC294395.jpeg.0f9d74eb04a9a1b78d91f30c69e4fbd2.jpeg

Ok got the newer Nascar chassis fitted to the Grand Prix body and going to use cage from the old chassis. . Not sure what rims and tires im going to use yet. Stole a few things from a Grand National kit , glass door handles, mirrors, and going to use alot of the interior and seats.

Aw man, you guys are flying ahead. This afternoon I pulled out the escort and tried the stock interior only to find its little use with out removing a lot of the race stuff so instead I pulled a pair of more comfortable recaro style seats out of the spares box. and glued the backs on as its a long drive in a race seat.DSC06310.JPG.0a32678a9191cdb832b7727eeac93d4f.JPG

DSC06317.JPG.9d60a1f9294ec7973bff0cbc3ebb866a.JPG

Next I pulledout the uscp cossie engine to see what needed to be changed which led to cutting the gearstick mount from the centre hump and a bit of filing underneath so it wasn't hanging down too much

DSC06311.JPG.a0128fc1bd88863029dde1ce6480036f.JPGDSC06315.JPG.c4ef6faeb56d4411b054744f475adc37.JPGDSC06314.JPG.0ae1cd9aadbc5e393800e3d453b9d687.JPG

I then turned my attention to the engine bay and its fit to the body. Turned out the fit left a gap at the sides and front so I used some angle strips to lose the gaps so that now it snaps in place and most likely wont need glue to hold the chassis in place

DSC06312.JPG.67bf46ed57a026f3a6bc2672b30ec511.JPG

after this I tried the lower sppoiler in place only to find the chassis wouldn't let it sit where it should so I ground the front of the chassis at an angle so now the spoiler fits where it should

DSC06318.JPG.598cadb6b588213ad661cad1996b2729.JPGDSC06319.JPG.a98e9cfee3c5a29cd9342a6229851a01.JPG

It will need a little filler later but for now the chassis is fitting without interfering with any of the body. Next I turned my attention to the front crossmember. I'll be giving it a lower stance so to enable this I put a couple of small extensions on the strut mounts and I'll be drilling them out once the glue sets.

DSC06313.JPG.bb80e5eeefcd9adbe0eb45ad9df13a6b.JPG

Now because I'm using a bigger set of rims I needed to do something about the brakes. After searching through my leftovers I found a set of corvette brakes that fit inside the rims but the calipers were hitting the back of the wheels, and they lacked any sort of hub detail so to fix this I cut a couple of squares from some styrene and drilled a hole in the centre. I then used my dremell cut of wheels mount to hold them together while I got them to size on a sanding pad. They wont really be seen but without them the wheels would have sat at a funny angle so this fixed that

Preach! I've been trying to find some decent suitable seats for my builds. Something will turn up sooner or later....

I couldn't find anything in my spares that I was willing to use for my build, so I ordered these:

https://www.modelbuilderswh.com/collections/detail-parts/products/clearly-scale-recaro-style-2-seats-with-decals-set-of-2-1-25th-scale

Not a bad price. I just need the USPS to stop holding them hostage.

Thanks! I might have to order two or three sets of those.

Well, some of you guys are already way ahead of me (especially you, Scott!!), but that's okay . . . I have 332 days to go.

But, I made great progress today (for me)!  I grokked.

In depth analysis indicates I apparently have a little chassis-stretching to do.

Okay, that's enough for today. I'm tired already.

PS: Don't be distressed by the color mismatch between cab and bed. The maroon truck was the intended vehicle (Sorry about that! -- Puns R Us.), but lo and behold when I popped open the box, the cab was AWOL. Weird. So, I robbed the cab from another kit. Onward!
