The relevant Skyline and Leopard parts got primered last weekend and I can now start getting some of it assembled. I need to get the suspension on and wheels and tyres sorted, that'll dictate how the bodyshell sits on the Skyline's floorpan and I can then work out the interior and underbonnet detailing. Looking at your Thule pod, with its front beam and sprouting antennas reminded me of an avionics or jamming pod slung under the wing of an F-16. It’s a great way to disguise any electronics package that may be inside, such as an active radar detector that frys radar guns perhaps? I sat and stared at the IMSA Mustang for days with a few ideas, but I've never done any scratch building whatsoever. I threw it to the side and started on the 06 Camaro with an old 86 Nascar engine. I'm helplessly trying to eliminate the noisy floor by pulling the nails and replacing them with three inch screws. Hopefully my efforts will pay off as I'm also installing high grade carpet padding. My one true complaint with the new house was my hobby room is over top the master bedroom and when you walk in there it creeks like an old house. (It was built in 2006) the problem is whoever is in the bedroom can hear what sounds like the ceiling ready to fall on them. Since the room was only meant to be for storage, there was minimal floor work done to it. In the mean time I have made some ebay purchases related to modeling to fill the void for now...😁 and watching the builds progress here helps too! I would suggest putting down some 1/2" spruce ply over that aspenite, and 2" screw it every 4"....and I really would have put some Rockwool insulation into those joist pockets first Great looking so far !! Thanks, yeah I was really limited on options, just short of pulling up all the OSB which is tounge and groove and starting over from scratch. I want it fixed but I definitely don't have that kind of money and also that's a massive project... The room is 400 sq ft. As for the three inch screws, that was an accident but so far they haven't been a problem, the plumbing is on the opposite side of the house. Maybe worth checking that out before you go any further with the flooring. Well worth persevering though, it's a great looking space! You're definitely onto something there because there's actually a message to the builders written on the floor. About what "Only" to do in that room. It wouldn't surprise me if they used different joists. Yeah - I'm not a builder but I wonder if there is a way to beef up the joists in the room you're working in - maybe a great idea in theory...! Good luck with whatever solution you come up with. I've been looking it over, trimming up the flash and cutting off a few things here and there. I need to fit a closing piece between the bulkhead and scuttle panel, but otherwise everything has worked out pretty well under here. The body is in primer with an unintentional bit of gunmetal topcoat (I got confused and picked up the wrong bodyshell when I was painting the other weekend!). The front suspension has been adapted to suit the female fitment wheels - they sit out a touch further than I want, but there's scope for a bit of trimming. Haven't yet mocked-up the rear end, but it shouldn't present any great problem. The big front brakes with their Brembo calipers just fit inside my chosen wheels. I might add a little bit of depth to the front spoiler, otherwise the bodywork will remain standard and be finished in an appropriately early '80s colour, probably gold or bronze. But here is my progress... First: Closed the rear quarter windows to make a wide C-pillar and rescribed all the panel lines... Second: painted the headlights and cut out the hood to make the engine visible... Third: Changed my mind on the wheels ( choosed some self-designed 3dprinted Racing Hart with different offset on front and rear) Fourth: Made the Impala interior fit the Nascar chassis... Fifth: Created a new front end... Last but not least: Tuned the rear end... That´s all for now. Hope to get some mor done soon... Greets, Rico P.S.: Congrats to the finishers. Had a bit of an unexpected battle to get everything sitting right in the body but I think I won in the end.
