The roof trim was molded in the kit IIRC. Most of the standard trim on that model was my usual beloved Silver Sharpie but the big chrome side trim I did in Deco Color Premium Silver Leaf (very much like Molotow) I got from Walmart.

...and she's done! The Little Old Lady from Pasadena looks nice and unassuming in her pretty little no-frills Dodge:

The tires are a bit wide, maybe, but with those steelies and dog dish caps (thanks for the trade, Sam I Am!) it likely won't get a second glance. But under the hood...

...a Supercharged 426 Hemi, all tucked up nice & neat so nothing stands out. Track tested and proven, it should have no problem running all day long.

Inside is equally low-key, stripped of anything noncritical and painted black so the exposed sheetmetal and roll bar don't stand out to any passers-by. The auxilliary gauges have been moved to the transmission tunnel just to keep the dash neat. But it still needed something more. One final, borderline crazy, last ditch ace-in-the-hole so if it came down to the last quarter mile she could be sure nothing could beat her.

That ought to do it! Turbonique by Alan Raab, with additional bracing and various lines to it scratch built. I removed the stock fuel tank (a larger unit could be mounted in the trunk) and made a heat-shielded pocket for the turbine out of styrene and Duck tape.

Wow Bill, that Dodge is fantastic!

My own progress is rather more modest, but I'm happy to have got back into it again.......

Added a bit of strip styrene around the edges of the bonnet opening, as I'd had to cut that open.

Opened-up the vent in the front bumper. There'll be a big intercooler behind here.

Spent most of my time sussing out the interior. I want to use the tub from the race Skyline, but with side panels and rear seat from the Leopard to keep it stock-ish looking. I'm adding the LHD dashboard from a Nissan Silvia, so the driver can make better use of overtaking opportunites.

Crudely mocked-up, it all seems to fit.

As the bodywork is going to remain pretty standard I'm hopefully not too far off getting some colour onto it, just few bits of filling and sanding to go. Current favourite is a warm gold/light copper shade.

Ok, trying to fix the paint on the roof. Going to clear it tonight.  If this doesn't work I'll try a vinyl top . If that doesn't work it's  getting weathered.

I managed to get my hobby room somewhat back in order. It's not exactly how I'd invisioned it but hey, I'm glad to have some organization. I'm ready to start building agian.

Also I checked out The little old lady from Pasadena 1964 Dodge on  spencer1984.com... what a great article on the build. I recommend going over and reading that. Thanks guys for the support and keep up the good work!

Well its getting weathered, touch up came out to dark, it did work just way to dark. I hate shinny anyways☺☺☺

With such great builds coming out of this year's contest I haven't been in much of a hurry to get mine out.

Here is a long overdue update.

Still some body fit issues to handle because the C7R body was so much wider than the C7.

I trimmed the roll cage quite a bit to make it more street-worthy.

Lots of bodywork left to do.

The color will be satin black with some violet accents

Hi guys. Spencer that red rocket is just amazing. 

As I've progressed with this Corvette, as I've never built one,  it's sort of turned into, "if I was going to built a C3 Corvette for myself, this is how I'd do it". 

So lots of body smoothing. No side markers,  no reverse lights, no bumpers, no door handles,  no scripts or badges. Custom air cleaner. The color will be suede Testors De Ja Blue. 

Enjoying the build.

A little bit more progress on my Nissan Leopard with Skyline GT-R underpinnings today:

Modified the Skyline rear end to take female fitment wheels then attached the rear axle and suspension. Strut brace taken from a Nismo Skyline, surprisingly the racing version I'm using as the basis for this build didn't have one.

Gave the bodyshell more primer, then couldn't resist getting a little bit of colour down. I'm not sure what it would have been used on at 1:1, but it's a rich gold shade, almost coppery, and it's pretty close to what Nissan were using at the time on some of their large cars.

With the arrival of summer like weather my workbench time has been limited by my garden activities, yet I was able to spend a rainy weekend at work on the Camaro IMSA road racer. 

Most of the recent scratch building has focused on the front and rear belly pans. The larger front unit will house the engine oil cooler and brake cooling air ducts for the front discs.

The rear pan will shield the civilian exhaust pipe and have an exit vent for the rear end oil cooler housed behind the rear passenger tire well. For the air ducting I’m using old plastic bendy drink straws that offer the right look and remain somewhat flexible and keeps its shape. 

The interior is progressing with detail painting and washes. Once the base is established the detail bits will be added to complete the “digital” cockpit. The sought after effect is to have the appearance of a road trip vehicle full of luggage and camping supplies to the casual observer, belying the actual evasive measures being employed.

The various scratch built parts are being readied for primer coats followed bu detail painting. At the top, and going clock wise, is the stock steering column and wheel. The engine oil cooler was constructed using guitar string to represent the coils, it will be mounted into the lower grill opening. It is followed by a pair of fire extinguishers to be mounted behind the passenger seat. A headliner control console will harness most of the communications array  on the roof. At the bottom are the dash components consisting of a digital driver’s display, the infra red radar screen for night vision, and an iPad for the copilot. The next section offers the Wink rear view mirror from a NASCAR kit with a forward video camera and the rear mount for the brake light which also houses the rear ward IR radar and video camera. The remaining two sections show the accelerator and brake pedals (running  a Turbo 400 3L80 tranny) and the the foldable foot rest for the passenger compartment, and lastly the picnic cooler and fixture for it to sit on the driveshaft tunnel.

The last item I worked on were the two gates for the exhaust to operate between civilian mode and wide open  dual exhausts. They will be solenoid activated from the cockpit.

Thanks Bill and Anthony for checking in on my progress. I enjoy scratch building as it allows for a great deal of imagination while being tempered by a sense of would it work on the 1:1 scale. When I was building 1:48 scale models of my theatre set designs the entire build was usually scratch built. One also trains the eye to see “in scale” various objects that would work in a model, for example the drinking straw.

I've been very vacant lately because of work... but thanks to an upcoming surgery, I'm going to be on a month long vacation. I'm coming up with the rest of what I need... in my mind anyway... and working on it while I'm off, when I'm feeling up to it.

Four weeks again since my last update and there´s some great progress on every build I can see here.

So here´s mine...

I´m still hanging on the details. First of all I started wiring the MSD ignition boxes.

I choosed a place on the passengers side firewall for mounting them...

... then, because both kits doesn´t have one, I started scratchbuilding my own Optima battery...

... and an ignition coil.

After that I started wiring the engine...

...painted the Optima...

... and this weekend I finished the ignition wiring and started the plumbing gas tank, the oil pan and pumps.

The fitting still have to become repainted after mounting. But that´s the work for next week.
