Dragline
Once I move into my new place I'm going to spend the better part of a year building Ayrton Senna's 1/20 scale Mp4/4 with the Top Studio complete kit, with a carbon fiber decal sheet and proper sponsor logo's and the correct Tamiya paints. Wish me Bona Fortuna...
Suburban_Hooligan
pro street Chevy Beretta. started one when I was ten and never finished it. slowly parted it out. when it was rereleased I picked one up. it’s been on the build list for about two years and I’m itching to build it. and maybe get around to finishing the 56 f100 I started a decade ago and never finished. ksnow
I'm hoping to build more than I did last year. I'd like to build at least one race car this year. I don't have a set list of kits to build, I just grab the kit that strikes my fancy when I want to start one. I'd also like to get an airbrush setup going. I've got everything I need now to get started including the hood I FINALLY found on eBay from a junker Salvinos Olds body. I'll be using a '75 Johan Olds as a start with the rear roof section from a junk Monte Carlo body (modified slightly). I might throw a oddball model in between all of this. I've got a certain Dune Buggy that's been on my mind for the longest time. It'll be one of those models I've not done before so it'll be something new as far as building. Ambitious list for sure with working every day and all, but certainly enough to keep busy for the long foreseeable future. The Olds is especially important for me as it's the car I'd like to take to GSL if I can get there in '23 with no hangups I hope. Looks like your cobra is comming out nicely! Watching your boss build also. Just bought that kit. The kit seems pretty good to me. The interior needs a little work but the rest seams pretty good. Wickersham Humble
Jolly; Not yet, but I'll post some later, or send to your email PM. This is a '49 coupe kit I bought when it was first issued, did a bad candy blue paint job on, later stripped and repainted nicer BUT put it under a shop light (cold day) which slipped down and melted the roof! Now it's a ragtop, oc. It will be white with indigo blue metallic (a Nason urethane) scallops, ala SoCal coupe -- sorta. Wick
Paul Payne
Update on the truck, boat, and trailer project- added an external keel to the boat, and the cockpit areas are shaping up. Decided to completely disassemble the Dodge power wagon and I am now in the process of grinding off all the screw bosses- the holes will be filled once I remove the paint with easy off. Also removed the big door hinges and plan to fabricate door hinges from brass strip. I grafted the power wagon transmission to the hemi from the 53 Studebaker and plan on a major weathering job. Check this out in the pickups and light commercial section. Progress on the egg crate grille and the car behind it has been slow due to more putty sanding than I originally expected. However I have resolved the tail light areas and found two parts I can use for lenses. Oh, and I bought and traded for some additional kits- Hudson Hornet convertible, some 49 Fords and Mercuries, a Chrysler 300, a Chevy SSR, and a Willys convertible- and I still have a few more in mind! And once I sawed the back off the Jeep, I got sidetracked and built this little trailer! I am making progress, but missed the Q1 deadline, so I soldier on for Q2 completion. Somehow this one snuck into the queue.. all built from junker parts.. and finished! And I played with a sorta rescue for The Olde Kustom Kollection, ElCamino and trailer duo. Ah! Forgot the Valiant Speedster that’s on the bench! Another squirrel 🐿 And I will claim extra credit for reworking and adding shelves into my two display cases! Guess I did get some stuff done! Hey, I guess it’s time for a mid year report! I have failed miserably on my January forecast. None of the pictured projects have progressed. But from my 4/9 report I’ve quoted above… The Valiant Speedster shown in white primer is finished. This Datsun pickup was nearly finished but sitting in the shop. So I completed it. And this rebuilder slipped into the production schedule and was completed today. The Studebaker Speedster is still front and center on the bench and needs to be finished for the end of this month. Beyond that is anyone’s guess! I do want to build a black extended flatbed semi trailer for my black and gold Freightliner I finished this year. I have so many cool kits but not enough time. Since this thread popped up recently I might as well put in an update. The 69 Boss Mustang is done. The 68 Shelby will be finished in the next day or so. The 67 Mustang GT 427 SOHC racer is nearing final assembly. The 67 Shelby chassis is done, but the body is pending masking and painting again. The Race Car Hauler BRBO is pending time and motivation to continue the masking/painting. The extended flatbed has not been cracked open yet waiting for bench space. Kind of would like to get my stalled Pro Street 70 El Camino moving again.

CabDriver
Well folks, it’s halfway through the year today - are y’all half way through your to-do lists? Me either 🤪 Here’s my list: Model A Highboy with a ridiculous paint job: An oval car: Another 34 truck: A VW: And something for a show (DSCV17, in this case): Started the trike too, but it’s been on the back burner for a few weeks. Got a lot to do to close out the list for 21!

There is an infestation of squirrels 🐿 in my model room. That said, I’m pleased with my second quarter production, as I was with the first quarter as well. This already is probably my most productive year in the hobby! The Valiant was the first over the finish line for second quarter. It was all done this year, without leaving the bench. Speaking of leaving the bench, I built this one for a show theme in 2019, but there were still unfinished details. A week’s effort got it out of a box. The squirrels are alive and well! This was a busted up old built up in my pickup junk box. It called my name, I answered! It got a new chassis, suspension and engine. Done! The big accomplishment! The 1953 Studebaker Gullwing went through both quarters in the Bring Out Your Dead group build. Started more than 25 years ago as my first big body conversion, it sat in a box since then. A ton of work straightening out my previous work including stretching the chassis. It’s still nowhere near perfect. But it’s monumental for me to see it on my shelf! What’s up next? I’d like to finish the St John’s Island Jeep started in January. And I need to pick a third quarter BOYD project. I may try one of the three that I listed in my January post. Onward! gtx6970
In all honesty, I would just like to get back to the model bench for something. Ive not touched anything in a few years now. And to be honest 2021 is not looking good for it either. I plan to retire approx fall 2022 Im thinking by then house will be the way we want it and my car is in the in the condition I truly want it to be by then Ive actually starting to thin the pile down even more than I did a couple years ago . Im planing to get down to maybe a couple dozen buildups I want to restore ( mostly original 1958 thru 1960 annuals ) and then some vintage drag cars I want to replicate . The rest is going away
Snake45
Well, as 2021 draws to a close, how did you do with your planned list? Reviewing mine, the results are pretty shameful: 70 Superbird glue bomb—Cannonball group build--GOTTER DONE! 65 Chevelle dirt tracker—Cannonball group build--Started, not completed 67 GTO glue bomb rescue—should be a quick project for a Day Two build--GOTTER DONE! 65 Impala convertible custom--a "double build" with Can-Con's project. --Started, made some good progress, long way from done. Did do a diecast '65 Impala Snake-Fu, though. 66 Skylark Craftsman rebuild completion—possible BOYD project--GOTTER DONE! 74 Corvette promo resto completion—possible BOYD project--Nope. 62 Nova glue bomb rebuild--high school hot rod--Rounded up some more parts, and even enough for a second one, but no real progress. 69 Nova completion—possible BOYD project--Nope 68 Cougar—at least one, maybe 2, maybe 3--Hah! I wish. 69 Javelin promo resto--Nope 71 Chevelle completion--Nope. 63 Corvette--white polished plastic--Nope. AMT '66 Corvette rebuild—at least one, maybe 2 or 3--Nope, though I did do a glue bomb rescue of a Monogram '65 Vette. 64 Cutlass HT—resin body with other original 1964 parts--Rounded up all the needed parts and got the resin body repaired, not much progress beyond that, though. 65 Chevelle AMT Craftsman—resto/rescue--Nope, though I am nearing completion of a '65 El Camino glue bomb rebuild that MIGHT get done this year. Maybe. 65 GTO glue bomb rebuild--Nope. 69 Corvair V8—possible Cannonball group build--Nope 75-79 Nova—one or more possible projects--Not at all, not one. Not even a little. Well, I paint-stripped at least one of them. On the positive side, I DID get 20 models completed this year, including 2 new-builds, 13 glue bomb rescues, and 5 diecasts. Hope to finish off at least two more diecasts before the end of the year, maybe three, and possibly that glue-bomb '65 Elky project.
CabDriver
I’ve been thinking about this thread ALL YEAR! Since reading this thread when it was first posted and thinking about what I’d like to build, about all I’ve done is try and hit my goal of building all of the stuff I wanted to this year. I should’ve made a shorter list - it was a LOT of work 🤪 Here’s the list I made at the start of the year: And, in order of the ones I finished… Model A with ridiculous paintjob: A trike: An oval car: A lakes racer (kinda - did a Bonneville build instead of the vintage hot rod I originally planned to do): Another 34 truck: A VW: A Corvette: Something for a show (Desert Scale Classic): A Boyd Coddington kit: And something in vintage police livery: I didn’t finish a build with a scratchbuilt body, or a showrod - but in my defense I did finish an MPC truck for a Scale Auto review, and these two: I’m relatively pleased with what I achieved in ‘21…I learned a lot, and made some concessions in order to hit my goal that I set myself, even if I didn’t REALLY hit it 🤪 I have some ideas for next year’s builds already so I hope there’s a follow-up thread…but now I’ve completed a bunch of builds that I’d been MEANING to do just to get them out of my head and onto the shelf, I really wanted to do some more focused and detailed builds next year. Bring it on!

Well doing a mfh 1/12 935/78, hope to finish this year. Also have a mfh 917/30 1/12 in progress. A 1/8 cobra 427 from Agora is comming. Have a 1/8 ford GT in progress from DeAgostini. When the 427 cobra comes all other kits are on hold. Very excited on this one. Going to repaint it and add detail to it. This is what my brain wants to do …. So we will see…I would like to do a few 1/25-24 kits also.
