JP Models
Finally starting my Mustang GT4 builds – thought I’d share a few detail pics of the actual race cars from a few events I’ve attended. I found a few of these pics helpful in determining what’s carbon, what’s not, fine details, etc… for those are are sticklers and OCD on replica builds! wrenchr
Gonna come in handy for my build, thanks for the pics!!
Penguins87
Thanks for the pics JP. They will come in handy. Looks like some of the interiors are white and others are a very light grey. Kinda like the interior of a NASCAR. Or is it just the way the light hits them?
Misha
Great shots JP! The various schemes appearing on this Mustang are very exciting, especially compared to the debut model in grey at its unveiling. My main obstacle on beginning this kit is the interior detail, especially since the Tamiya instruction don’t call out the parts by name for the interior tub. Find it confusing and in the dark as to the plumbing and wiring of the components. A search on the web only brought past generations of Mustang racers... Any help on the interiors of these great cars would be most beneficial! Thanks & Cheers Misha
iamsuperdan
Agreed. Finding good interior shots has been challenging. I rarely use the kit suggestions for colour choices. I mainly find reference pics and go by those. I do like it in plain old Grabber Blue though.
JP Models
Penguins87 - Of the (10) race cars I've seen in IMSA and PWC, the roll cage interior parts of each car have been white. Each team's wiring, drink bottle, cool suit, and other set-up is a bit different, but the location of the 'hard' parts is generally the same. iamsuperdan
I'm not sure if they still do it this way, but back in the early 2000s, all of the factory Porsche racecars came painted white, inside and out. Porsche said it was because white has fewer pigments compared to dark or metallic colours, and when painting a car, white cars were on average about 8lb lighter than any other colour. Apparently. I wonder if the GT4 program is the same.

The Volt car interior often looks like it's off white or greyish.
