Scale-Master
Testors 1/72 kit. I know my Dad had his hand in this designing the earlier larger scale kit (and a couple others like it), but I'm not sure to what degree on this one. I know he drew the Scale-Master decal artwork for both kits. Since it is fictional I decided it could be cool to do it camouflaged. Digital camo seemed like a good fit. I started with a base coat of Tamiya Neutral Gray. All the upper surfaces were shot with the same color. (The canopy frame is just tacked in with white glue.) Scale-Master
A second darker shade of Tamiya Ocean Gray was applied to the center section parts.
Scale-Master
I drew up a camouflage pattern and printed it out on decal paper.

bisc63
Got a couple of these in 1/48, and one in 1/72. Fictional but nevertheless cool design, and apparently a lot of people agreed; I believe this became Testors biggest selling kit.(?) I like the direction you are going with it. I really like "what if" builds; it's all you and your imagination out for a stretch.
mustang1989
Alright Mark....you've definitely got my interest going here. Looking forward to seeing this one with those decals on it.
Scale-Master
Thanks Guys! After putting a couple decals on I realized the contrast between the grays wasn't as much as I hoped.
Scale-Master
I removed the decals and repainted the plane with Sky Grey and German Gray. I thought a bit of a skunk stripe down the center was appropriate…
Scale-Master
One decal applied…

Scale-Master
Thanks! I added some black edging around the perimeter and installed the intake covers.
Scale-Master
Tails are camo'd. Inboard. Outboard.
cobraman
Looking great. I really like the digital camo.
Scale-Master
Thanks Ray! I did a little freehand shading around the perimeter.
Scale-Master
I did the same to the leading edges of the tails…
porschercr
I too dig the digital camo, and the shading. Nice work.
Scale-Master
Thanks Trevor! It's a fun project even if I'm not 100% sure what it's going to look like when finished. I thought the black insignia was too low-vis when I applied it, but after a couple days I decided it had to come off. Since I planned to use the gray markings on the tails I went with the same for the wing. Ironically, it's just the other side of the same coin of contrast. Scale-Master
I built the cockpit as it comes. Looks like it could be detailed up nicely, but since the canopy will be closed I'm good with this level of detail.
Scale-Master
I sprayed the wheel wells white and gave them a wash of light gray.
Scale-Master
A coat of flat clear helped quite a bit. It might get some mild weathering later, or not…
Jonathan
The digital camouflage is perfect for this kit. Very cool. One of my favorite kits, actually.
