OK.  I'm waiting for parts to come in to finish up the '66 Mustang, so I started on the '69 Country Charger

This body is pretty bad.  Lots of seems to sand out and the fenders are kinda wavy!

I wet sanded the the body with 600 grit auto sandpaper to get the seems out and try to straighte the fenders a bit.

Here is the paint I bought from Hobby Lobby

I mixed it with regular windshield washer fluid and sprayed a light mist coat

Then just misted on a couple more coats

Third coat- finally starting to cover

final coat sprayed pretty wet

I dried each coat with a hairdryer until it was dry to the touch. Tthen I started spraying the Future

Frst couple coats of Future misted on to act as a tack coat486929454_1stcoatfuture.thumb.jpg.6e89100f5bab5ef1df49ad3e51004265.jpg

Final and wet coat of Future

Here it is dry to the touch but not cured.

Total spray time including drying between coats was about 25 minutes. then let sit 15 minutes before I sprayed the Future.

I'll let this sit for a few days and wax it.  I'll post some more pics I'l also address the flash I missed on the right front fender

What do you guys/girls think of this color?  I'm going to build this as a regular muscle car.

I like the color also and the finish is already looking good.

Thank you!  I'll post some pics as I get it waxed / polished.  This one is going to be on the backburner as I wait for some parts I ordered for this one.

Looking great, like the colour choices. What a stunning car the Charger was. Fuselage styling they called it didn't they? Was this the Dukes of Hazzard kit too? Moulddd in orange?

Thank you for the kind words.  I do believe this was the Dukes of Hazzard kit, but molded in black.  This kit has taken a lot of work, as there was flash everywhere, took some time to trim and sand it out.

Looking good.  How did you get that leather effect for the upholstery?

Thanks.  I used satin paint and then brown shoe polish over the seats and dash.  I used a soft thick brush to apply it, then once it had dried, I used the same brush to polish it

OK Chaz, I don't know how I missed this one. Paint looks great, and "flexable acrylic"??  Good luck with the foiling, it does take a good bit of finessing. Another recommendation I learned on the forum is to use masking tape as a guide. There is a post somewhere on here about doing that, and it works!!

Thanks Mike.  I have reviewed that thread on BMF and am going to try tonight wish me luck.  You also have me thinking about changing the wheels and tires on '66 Mustang.  Hopefuly can get back to that model tonight.

I tried my hand at BMF for the first time on the  window trim and door handles. One thing is clear. I need a better knife and more practice. I also polished the paint ( you can see a small spot under the back window where I nicked the paint trying to get the extra BMF off5EBFD0FC-E5C3-49BF-A91A-D96ADAF302B9.jpeg.8869305fb885413e07fbaa0a1691f33a.jpeg1963F824-F861-4B04-AF31-4E726EB51EBA.jpeg.f4dd0a5259271ae5992b9b6b2003934f.jpegAC2FD7A8-D4F9-4C4D-A594-B57D5F791E4E.jpeg.9818fff9c82c76a72485ea8d21f8079c.jpeg53BDB52B-A888-4565-9F34-60981983EE74.jpeg.adb562af49e13dd8f0bcb5544e7772ac.jpeg

Hi Chaz, this looks great. I’m no expert on foil, but definitely, always use a brand new blade for the foil. One of my favourite tools for foiling is the pointed Tamiya “cotton swabs” , they are great for burnishing the foil into the seams and along edges.

Cheers, Steve

Thanks Steve!  I’ll have to look into those
