There have been many speed record attempts in a Ferrari at the Bonneville Salt Flats, but none of tham was as stricking as the Lotec-Colani Testa d`Oro. Maserati  Levante 2016

Italian sports car makers aren’t famed for their SUVs. The first was Maserati to bring one to market  while Ferrari has committed to never building a jacked-up 488 GTB.  But there was an Alfa Romeo around the corner and  Lamborghini is worked too.

The Maserati Levante is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV based on the Kubang concept carthat debuted at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show. The Levante featured Ferrari's 3.0L V6 twin turbo 350 PS engine, in two states of tune. A diesel model is also offered for RHD  market. It has an undeniable charm that other SUVs don`t have in this market segment.  Despite its bulky body, this is a car that has Italian DNA in its veins, and is pleasingly agile given its size.

The model made by Grani&Partner (7-Eleven) in 1:64 scale.

Enjoy the pictures.

Nissan GT-R50 2018

The Nissan GT-R marks its 50th anniversary this year, so the Japanese automaker decided to celebrate in style. Nissan teamed up with legendary design firm Italdesign — which also celebrates its 50th anniversary this year — to create a one-off custom GT-R, appropriately named GT-R50. The handbuilt car based on the GT-R Nismo with its 3.8 litre twin-turbocharged V6  but now produces 710 horsepower. Unveiled at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed in England.  The car made other appearances around the world.  Reaction from the public was so positive that Nissan and Italdesign decided to put the GT-R50 into production. Price was $1.1 million. The price tag is around 10 times the price of a base GT-R.

The little model made by Tomica in 1:63, the greater is 1:24 made by Miniauto, China. The front wheels are positionable, the caliper and breakdisc don`t turn with the wheels, the side mirrors are foldable.

Enjoy the pictures.

Ferrari Mythos Concept 1989

The Pininfarina Ferrari Mythos Concept is one sexy car. The car is based on theTesta Rossa with the engine 390 hp, 4.9-liter flat-12. Top speed is 290 km/h, acceleration to 100 km/h 6.2 sec. The body panels are built in carbon fiber, the dashboard, instrument panel, door panels and seat shells are covered in leather.  The five-spoke rims are exclusively designed for Mythos. The integrated active rear spoiler  was a very unusual and high-tech feature in 1989. It had the ability to raise and tilt 12° to front,  offering extra downforce when needed. Pininfarina tested the Mythos in a wind-tunnel where it performed better than the Testarossa. Although not intended to be sold to the public, the current Sultan of Brunei is known to have commissioned two Mythos, one in red and the other in turquoise.

Mc Laren F1 Coupe 1992

The F1 sport coupe was the world fastest road car 12 years long. The legendary Gordon Muray designed the car with the 6.1 L BMW V12 . The engine gave 618 hp for the 1138 kg car. The result is a top speed 391 km/h and the acceleration is 3.2 sec for 0-100 km/h. The car is a 3 seater,  midst the driver and the two  other slightly back. Niki Lauda joked:  Very practical, you can take your wife and girl friend too.  Only 64 road-going examples were made. Not much of a sooooo practical car.

The models are curved from wood, wheels are with rubber tyres and the lights are inserted plastic ones.

Enjoy the pictures.

1-75 story 12 Buick Y-Job 1939 –Lincoln Futura 1955

Buick Y-Job 1939

Produced by Buick in 1938, it was the auto industry's first concept car designed by Harley Earl. The car have a line 8 engine, 5247 ccm, 141 hp with a 3 speed manual gearbox and based on a lengthened 1937 Buick Century chassis. The „Y” in the name has two explanations:  all experimental cars were called „X” but Earl choosed the next letter „Y”, or because in the aviation industry the „Y” was used for the most advanced prototypes. The car was driven for a number of years by Harley Earl.

The model is made of wood with rubber tires and red plastic rear lights. The lenght of model is the „result” of a wrong data in a book.

Lincoln Futura  Concept 1955

The design is by Ford but was hand-built by Ghia in Turin -  only one  car . The Futura is one of the exeption between concept cars – it had a complete powertrain with a 300 HP, 6.0 L V8 engine and push-button transmission controls. The concept  was a success as a show car, garnering favorable publicity for Ford.  After two film roles  was sold to Georg Barris. Having originally cost $250,000, for $1 only. As the showcar was not insurable, it was parked behind Barris' shop for several  years. In 1966, Barris was asked to design a theme car for the Batman television series.  Barris thought the Futura might work well. Its unusual winged shape would be an ideal starting point for the Batmobile. The car was full functional but had not the speed  - specialy in cornering – which was required for Batmans supercar.  The speed in film is a film trick.

The model is made of wood with rubber tires and plastic lights. The double-bubble canopy is formed with deep drawing.

Matra Simca 680 1974

The MS680 was the last sports car developed by Matra. The only MS680 made was based on a modified chassis of the MS670C. Powering the car was the 3.0 L Matra V12 engine. It produced between 395–520 hp.

The MS680 was used in the first pre-race tests and in the race at the 1974 24 Hours of Le Mans. The car was driven by Jean-Pierre Beltoise and Jean-Pierre Jarier. Grid: 2nd (3:36.800) – 1974.  During the race Matra suffered from engine overheating problems, causing the car to break down after 104 laps of the race.

Matra retired from international motor racing in late 1974 and the car was no longer used. The only example of MS680 is kept inside the Matra Museum in Romorantin-Lanthenay.

The model is made by Polistil scale 1:55 and detailed by me.

Enjoy the pictures.

Lamborghini Terzo Millennio Concept 2017

The Terzo Millennio Concept is a futuristic electric car developed in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institut of Technology. The design is of the company's Centro Stile department.  The car has a definite Lamborghini look but same time it is so different and unique as no one earlier Lamborghini design. The supercar would utilize four electric motors in the wheels powered by onboard super capacitors and energy storage devices.  The amount of torque can be controlled individually to all 4 wheels, making the car's stability as good as a F1 car. The system can produce power of 819 HP, accelerating 0 to 60 in under 2.8 seconds, and the top speed is 349 km/h. The car's layout would be all-wheel drive if it was functional.

The models are made by Maisto in 1:64 and 1:24 scale. The metalic blue colour is very good. The red accents aside are good too but there is no one on the 1:1.

Enjoy the pictures.

General Motors LeSabre Concept 1951

General Motors’ LeSabre was the legendary design chief Harley Earl’s tour de force that had massive influence on car design for a decade. Probably it was the most important show car of the 1950s.

The design was influenced by the fighter jet Le Sabre F-86 and had a lot new features never seen before. The car  is powered by a custom designed 215 cubic-inch aluminum, 335 hp supercharged V8 engine designed to run on both gasoline and ethanol . Seat and steering wheel were non-adjustable, permanently set for 6’ 4” Earl alone. The LeSabre was fully functional and served as Harley Earl’s daily driver for several years, racking up 45,000 miles. The lightly altered version 1952 captured the imagination of more than a million spectators of the 1953 Motorama show.

The models are curved from wood by me scale 1:75 in 1995. They are the two variants 1951 and 1952. This was the only one project when I recorded the working houres of modeling. After preparing the blueprints for the two variants I curved, drilled, chiseled, turned, cut, sanded, painted, polished parts – 211 pc – and built up tham in 182 hours.

Enjoy the pictures.

Great work. The LeSabre and the Y-job are hugely significant cars, yet not kitted. Hot wheels did nice LeSabre ages ago, and a Mint did nice 1/24 LeSabre. But prior to that, only a hugely rare pricy Japanese tin replica.
Y-job gaping hole in scale.
You have awesome skills, a joy to see the diversity, and coincides nicely with my interests. Keep them coming. 👍🏼😃

Lamborghini Miura Concept 2006

The Lamborghini Miura Concept is a retro styled concept car introduced by Lamborghini to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the introduction of the original Miura concept. „This Miura was a celebration of our history, but Lamborghini is about the future. Retro design is not what we are here for.” said president and CEO Stefan Winkelmann. The designer of the car Walter de' Silva was quick to point out that Automobili Lamborghini may park this one in showrooms. The car isn't a runner, as it lacks a working drivetrain. Still, others had pegged the Miura Concept as lacking an interior -  thanks to the heavily-tinted doors. In point of fact, it has a nicely-integrated instrument panel dominated by a tachometer and speedometer.

The model is made by Mondo Motors in 1:24.

Enjoy the pictures.

Bugatti Royale Type 41 Prototype  Chassis  #41100  1926

It is said that Ettore Bugatti decided to build the never seen greatest luxury car after an English lady compared his cars unfavourably  with those  of  Rolls-Royce. He created a prototype chassis  with  a 14,7 l engine, 4,6 m wheelbase.  The aluminium clutch box was attached to the chassis, not to the engine.  The gear box, also in aluminium was attached to the rear axle. The reason placing clutch and gearbox at such odd locations was reducing noise, so increasing comfort inside the cars. A difficult problem in those days .  The brakes were effective but without servo-assistance required significant muscle power from the driver. The plan was  to build twenty-five of these cars and sell them to royalty as the most luxurious car ever.  But even  European  royalty were not buying such things during the Great Depression.  There were two exeptions only : the  King Zog of Albania and the King Carol of Romania. Bugatti refused to sell one to King Zog of Albania, claiming that „the man`s table manners are beyond belief !” The delivery to Romania was not possible in 1939 because of the WWII.  The price has played its part too. : for the price of one Bugatti Royale chassis man could buy 3 Rolls Royces –  with body.

I was.inspired by the Napoleon Coupe kit not long ago finished and a nicely detailed fire truck by Marx in 1:87 seen on a toys exhibiton. I belived I could build  the Royale chassis in „my” scale 1:75 too.

The model is made from 71 parts. The parts are made of resin, wires , plastic sheet and photo-etched  parts.  I used a templet for  assembly which helped  to install the axles in proper hight.

On the first of the parts pictures are the master pieces of  the prototype chassis and the shortened one for the  series production.  The other pictures are showing some parts in  raw, half-ready and ready  state on millimetre paper. This little model was insured by the organizers of an exhibition for a value of a  monthly salary of a qualified worker .

Enjoy the pictures.

A trouble-free run gives Chip Ganassi a Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona record – victorys in consecutive years. Six Daytona Prototypes were on the lead lap till evening. But Ganassi`s rivals dropped out one by one during the final hours and the reliability was the winner. The MkXX came completely assembled. The Ganassi team with an engineer and assembley  technician from Riley Technologies completed and tested the car with the 4.3 liter Lexus V8 engine.
