How do you get your chassis straight ?

Recommended Posts

im interested to see this as well. typically i need to buy another kit and hope its straight. i have tried  taping it flat and even one time taped it flat and forgot about it for months, and found it popped right back after removing the tape.

i once tried on a hood to put it into hot water and twist opposite, but just ended with a shrunk hood

I just twist them until they lay flat. You have to twist them past square so when they spring back, they'll be flat. No heat of any kind. You'd be surprised at how much a frame can twist without breaking.

And.....then an even bigger surprise!😬 I’m not doubting that this works, but it’s too bad the plastic doesn’t give any warning when it is getting close to it’s limits.

I cheat a little bit.  First I assemble the suspension & make everything as square as I can.   I make the mounting holes in the wheel backs slightly oversize with just a little bit of play.  When I glue the wheels on I place all the tires on a piece of glass (flat surface) & use machinist V blocks pressed up to the wheels & eyeball the alignment from the top.  Works every time & I always have all 4 on the ground.

so when you do this, the chassis will stay warped, but look like its flat? what happens with the body and interior. how do they lay flat on the warped chassis
