Cuba_13
Good afternoon friends. The construction does not stand still, there are a lot of boxes and you need to collect them. My choice fell on one of the open ones (so far I have made a plan for myself to collect all the open ones, and the sealed ones for later), for a long time my eyes rushed to her. The great and terrible Thunderbird as anyone in the 9th generation, built on a fox-body platform from my favorite generation of Mustangs. Can be assembled in two versions: stock and aero (white on the box on the right). We have an annual in our hands, just a year younger than me. Made in the USA. A trifle, but nice. I unpack it as it was packed. Car tires. I hate it when they do that. It's good that it's not a no-name. Tire tread Glasses. Chrome. Body. Underhood details, a lot is cast with a body, but not scary. Look at these beautiful shapes! Awesome! Good stampings. Second sprue. And everything is fine here. Interior. Door cards are very pleasing, AMT players need to learn. Sprue with specials for aero version. Next sprue. Dashboard is very well designed. So are the seats. The last sprue. I liked the steering wheel. Inline four. The decals are very poor. Large manual clamshell. I was very surprised by the assembly sequence. Moving on. I didn't want to bother with processing the imitation of springs and I did it from scratch. I decided to make a small imitation of the alternator mounting. Made on the basis of super realism I do not pretend. Made straps in the interior. And headlights, as well as fog lights. They had to be glued in immediately, tk. after painting, it will be unrealistic to glue the muzzle beautifully. I had to tinker a lot with the fit, the holes in the face themselves, the headlights, and the glass were fitted, but I won all this in the end. In general, despite the small number of parts, this set is given much heavier than the past Chrysler. Everything went smoothly there, almost everything had to be adjusted and the casting flaws were corrected. All parts are ready and waiting to be washed and primed and painted. That's all.
1972coronet
One of my favourite kits from back in the day ; this Thunderbird , and the Monte Carlo 1986 . These then-new kits were groundbreaking for their time : separate headlamp lenses , better detail , and more realistic than their predecessors . In late 1986 , @tim boyddid a build-and-review of the 1987 Turbo Coupe . The article appeared in (the now-defunct) Scale Auto Enthusiast ; a fantastic article , should you be able to find it . I really like how you made the alternator bracket , and the interior door pull-straps ; they are perfect ! What are your plans for this ? Factory-stock ? Customised ? TransAmMike
Watching with much interest. I have this kit to replicate the actual car I once owned. Mine was black, red velour interior. What a great fun car it was!!

Cuba_13
Good evening friends. It's time to upgrade. All parts are primed. Unfortunately, I forgot to photograph painted in primary colors. Assembled wheels. And assembled the "heart" of the iron bird.

Rockford
Looking excellent. I have one in my stash. The moulding in mine looks pretty poor, in silver styrene. That's the Ford Pinto engine. I think it was bored to 2.3 litre in USA but in Europe we got a 1.6 and a 2.0 in the Cortina then later on a 1.8 in the Sierra. It was a great engine, loved to rev but they were worn out by 100,000 miles. Probably why the Americans didn't like them. I like these Tbirds. For an 80's car they've stood the test of time well. Shame they never made it to Ford Europe showrooms. Edited April 9, 2021 by Rockford
kelson
Very realistic weathering on the engine!, i built the same kit 20 years ago i painted it yellow, but it looked lousy,so i stripped it and put it back in the box and for some reason i've just left it.🤷♂️

They were offered in 2.0, 2.3, and 2.5 liter displacements. Properly prepped, stock cranks/blocks have been pushed to over 800bhp.
Cuba_13
Good evening everyone. Finished off, the interior. As a result, it turned out a little not what I wanted and not what in reality, but because all these nuances are visible only now, and after the final assembly they will be practically invisible, did not begin to alter. And completed undercarriage.
David G.
Beautiful work so far! Great job on detail painting, very convincing realism. David G.

TransAmMike
Very nice job Roman. Great paint but you should know the black on these cars was not metallic and the interior was a true red. That being said tho, it looks beautiful so far and yep, the undercarriage weathering is awesome. Ben269
My first car was an 87 Turbo Coupe. Gunmetal Gray with a blue and gray interior. Automatic trans, which went out at 163k. It was a fun car though. Nice paint job, I'm enjoying the build.
