TransAmMike
I don't do much WIP threads as I think my builds are pretty basic stuff but thought I'd give this build a try. The AMT '55 kit. I prepped the body to get any flaws out of the casting, scribed around the trunk and doors and removed the emblems. The first primer coat (Stynylrez) went on well but revealed that I still need to do more touchup. I'm gonna put this hood on it I determined that the '66 Nova Pro Mod tubbed chassis is almost a perfect fit on the'55 with just a bit of work to the front section. This is a picture of the Nova chassis without the mods. Made a cut as seen in the pictures to remove the front "forks" (for lack of a better term) Same for the '55 chassis Installed the "forks" from the '55 to the Nova chassis Top Bottom Test fit to the body Thats it for now!! Thanks for looking and any suggestions and comments appreciated.

I know you kid Thomas. Actually since I really have very little experience with "cut and paste", it was a fairly simple process.

Mile High Scale Modeler
I like seeing builds like this where thought is put into upgrading the chassis on a stock model kit and of course that look the 55 will have in the end due to the chassis. Keep up the great work!
afx
That chassis does fit nicely, good work grafting on the '55 front clip.

Modlbldr
Looks good Mike. One of my favorite kits as far as looks. The chassis swap is a nice one. I just put a first coat of paint on my AMT 57 Chevy so I'll be watching this build of its older brother. Later-

My first attempt at any chassis mod. 5 hours ago, FLHCAHZ said: Looking good Mike! Thanks Chaz. 3 hours ago, Modlbldr said: Looks good Mike. One of my favorite kits as far as looks. It is a cool kit but the moulded in single exhaust is something I couldn't live with and I wanted really wide rear tires. I'm a bigger '57 Chevy fan so will be looking for your build as well. TransAmMike
Worked today on the so so good fitting resin hood, biggest issue being too narrow. I decided to position it for a good fit on one side. In the first picture you can see the gap between the hood passenger side fender: So I added a strip of Evergreen sheet to the one side: After trimming off the excess, filing and sanding this is the result: Not perfect but much better. Snake45
The kit hood doesn't fit much if any better. I'm gonna shim mine up much as you did when I build mine, hopefully in the near future.

slusher
Mike I feel for you with the hood problems. I hope you get it worked out. The body looks great.
David G.
Looks great so far! I'm afraid I have no experience working with resin parts so I'm no help there. David G.
Painted Black
Think I would cut the scoop from the resin hood and graft it into the stock hood..

I heated it with the hair dryer (waaaay too much due to my over exuberance) and it softened and it bent perfectly. NOTE:Don't heat it any more than it needs or it might become mush.
