I love that Meng mentions that the tires in this kit don’t smell bad (???)....yeh, first thing I do when I open the box is smell those tires....

As long as they don't dry up and crack, or melt after few years, I don't care if they smell.

Interesting! I might pick one up when they're available, depending on price and how the actual kit looks. So far it looks good, but it's hard to tell from those pictures as they're not actual kit parts...

Some pieces look a bit clunky, or downright WRONG, but what in the wide world of sports is happening with the brake rotors??

I think that the designers are using some "artisitc license" while designing these models, making them look more like toys than scale models.  Too bad that they aren't  more serious about the design.

I like it, mostly. I can see replacing or remodeling the brake rotors and for sure replacing the valve covers, they are pretty far off and some knock offs from the parts box too. All said, the model looks like a must have for me.

Toys.... yup:

Not serious, clearly ....

There's no glue and no filler in this model, just a few paint effects. The engineering and design quality is extraordinary. There are a few nit-picky inaccuracies in the plumbing and wiring of the engine, but do not underestimate the care the people who designed and tooled this have for the original. Meng's entire range speaks to a bunch of people with a deep interest in the hobby and a passion for their subjects, with some limits on their access to prototypes, but huge enthusiasm for new ways of building kits. Their 1/72 F-106, 1/48 P-51, 1/35 Merkavas, 1/32 Fokker Dr/1 and Toon kits just demonstrate an alternative way of thinking in modern times that is the spiritual successor of the Revell and Monogram of the late 60s- early 70s.

Apologies if this ain't a popular view, but it's the way I see it.

best,

M.
