Well as carl said. We aren’t getting any younger. Lol. I’ll never be able to build them all!  I have so many duplicates it’s amazing to me. Yet I just got 2 more yesterday but not duplicates Thank God. Lol

I bought a glue bomb AMT '57 Chev today JUST for its taillights. A few months ago I bought a rescue-able MPC flip-nose that's complete except for the taillights and their chrome. I'm hoping the AMT parts fit the MPC body. If they do, I'm in bidness. B)

And, as a bonus, I think I might have figgered out a way to correct the mis-shapened "spear" molding on the MPC Chev's quarters. :D

When I did an inventory a few years ago I had over a dozen of the 1950 Ford pickup. I do like this kit, so I took the unsealed ones and dumped them into a plastic tub.

That gave me the freedom to try different things, knowing if I screwed up, no worries I had more!

I actually went thru three interiors until I got my rat pickup right.  I’ve completed two trucks from the tub so far!

At least they are not all exact duplicates. One is a Nomad. One a Street Burner. One is a California something. A Salt and Pepper and a Black Widow. A couple of different snap kits.

They each have different wheels and options.  At least they are paid for…

I've had that happen for a couple of reasons.

First, I'm just forgetful. I see something and think to myself, "Dang that's awesome. Gotta have it!" Then I get home and I already have it. This doesn't happen too often. Tamiya Audi quattro, AMT Christine. Two that come to mind.

Second, it's too good of a deal to pass up. I've found kits at antique stores or garage sales at prices so low, I have to buy it. Prime example, a couple of years ago I was at a client's shop delivered his new truck, when I saw a couple of boxes of model kits. I asked, and he said he was clearing out space. Two Revell COE Aerodynes, two Revell Auto Transport trailers, AMT Ford C900 with trailer, all factory sealed and mint, for $100 CDN.

Third, I just want them. ESCI Ford Transit, AMT C1500 454SS; I have at least half a dozen of each of those.  I buy whenever I find them and they're not an arm and a leg. I just love the subject matter.

I can cover your 11 '57 Chevys and raise you just as many '66 Impalas and even more '86 Monte Carlo SS and I don't know how many '72 Nova SS are in the basement. Sounds like you're not alone with the problem either.

I have 6 of the revell dodge ramcharger suv. I actually got 2 for free from Walmart.com because i ordered 2 and the model boxed were smashed because they put some random metal tool in the box that was heavy. I didn't order the tool so i called them and told them i got tgis random tool i didn't order and mentioned how it smashed the model boxes and asked if i could return them for ones that weren't smashed. they sent out 2 new ones and told me just to keep the smashed ones. However, they did want the tool back, which was weird because I could have just demt it all back in the same box.

The smashed kits were generally ok. I think only 1 piece was actually damaged

I generally try to avoid getting duplicate kits. There are exceptions. I have two of the Accurate Miniatures Corvette Grandsport, a couple of the Revell '30 ford Coupe, a couple of the Revell '29 Fords, and a pair of the Ernie Irvan #4 cars. But, it's getting to the point where I can't keep track of what's up there anymore, so I'm doing a kit inventory as part of our garage remodel.

I've currently got 7 tamiya bugs still in the box, but along with that I have 2 built and 3 in progress and I fully expect to buy more of them. I've also got 6 hasegawa and 6 revell split screen vans not counting the 2 in progress and again I'll buy more. Its the same story with the tamiya, fujimi and revell golfs, multiples of each, and 3 og esci mk2 escorts and 2 italeri versions and theres possibly a revell one in the stash too. Heller grey fergie tractors I only have 4 of though but I can see me getting more. The only us car kits I have multiples of are the amt 62 bel airs. All the vw kits will be built and they will all be different to each other but I have an idea to build each of the feature cars in hayburner vw magazine (it only costs postage and is well worth it for the 4 mags a year if you like custom vws) and I'll probably do the same with the golfs and other watercooled vws but from performance vw mag. I can even tell you what my next vws will be, since I've used up my t3s there will be at least 3 added to the stash.

I’ve built many Ford Thunderbolts, and still have a couple in my stash. Other models I might only have two or three of the same kits. I’m to the point where I don’t have the room to store one more kit. So I can admit I’ve gotta a little out of control over the years.

I've got a bit of a space problem too. I'm storing our collective model stash in the garage rafters. But my real troubles began when my wife went up there for something and exclaims. "Where did all these come from?!"  It didn't help that the model railroad stuff that my wife wants to keep and my daughter's kits were up there too. Additional kits are a rarity these days, and to be honest, that seems to be just fine.

My wife says the same thing. She noticed that the collection slowly grew over the last year. My problem is, I’ll see a model I want to build today, buy it, then it will sit there for a year. I guess they call that a procrastinator?
But I am getting better. Sometimes I look online at kits, and say to myself, “why am I even looking... I have every kit I’d ever want, and I don’t have the room anymore”.

But currently my carpal tunnel, and my back issues are keeping me away from building as much as I’d like to. I know I’ve said it before, but my goal is to finish the fifteen started protects I have now.

My wife is giving me grief now.  I filled my model closet and the cabinet in our second bedroom and have a stack in my work area. She is cleaning out a second closet for me to move stuff. I going to start building what i got. I really see i have too many

Years ago I thought it would be stupid to have more than one of the same kit.  Then someone brought a bunch of kits from an estate to a club meeting, and I couldn't help getting another '50 Ford pickup, '50 Chevy pickup (have 3 now).  After I got a '69 Chevy pickup (real thing), have 2 '72 pickups in the box.  Two Nazca kits.  Two AMT 300SL kits, one is really cool original box art.  Have several different versions of the same car.  So yea I'm stupid.  🙄
