Working on my first kit in 20 years. Revell 68 Chevelle SS 396. Kits are much different now than 20 years ago, more detail and more difficult for an old guy like me. I've already made a mess of it. I'm trying to get more into detailing than I use to do. Maybe I should have started back with a level 2 or 3 kit instead of this level 5.

Is that the Revell of Germany kit in the flat box? I have opened mine a couple times and put it back. I find the instructions a little intimidating. You can always put it on hold and start another simpler kit. Get a kit that you’re not in love with so it won’t bother you   as much if you mess up a bit.😜

I started back after 40+ years and I can tell you the Revell 1956 Ford truck Foose addition is one of the nicer kits and trouble free.

I haven't completed a build since 1974.... I did try to start some 20 years ago with a '70 Baldwin Camaro but had some problems with it.... I'm about to get started again with a Revell '66 Impala SS 396 kit... Hope I have better luck with this one....

I believe Revell just revamped the skill level.  I believe the 5 is a 3 .  There is so many kits to start with like AMT 53Ford truck Foose Ford truck, 49 Mercury by Revell  and curb side kits…
