alan barton Posted July 26, 2021 Share Posted July 26, 2021 Yeah, when you talk about stance on a drag car, roll cage positioning is one of the most critical elements. Raising it helped immensely. Back in the late seventies, Matchbox made a little Beetle with cartoon like proportions and a giant V8 in the back. Long before Hot Wheels, Johnny Lightning etc got into making accurate drag cars, I cut one up into spookily similar proportions to your project, Rodney. Seeing this makes me want to finish it! Firewall is so neat with the rounded magneto relief and you’re the master at making those big drag car wheel wells. I also love the fitted hood hole. This thing is gonna be so killer! I decided to use a couple of partial cans of the now discontinued Testors lacquer "Extreme" or "One Coat" as it was called. This paint goes on way too thick and tends to bubble up if too much is applied. I decided to decant it and shoot it through my airbrush rather than take any risks....I glue a piece of Evergreen tube to the nozzle to decant without a big mess. This works great. the base color is Lime Ice, with Emerald Green accents... Masking off around the area to be sprayed emerald.... Ready to shoot....fingers crossed... Emerald green applied... pulling off the tape.... WOW!!!! Came out better than I expected!!! Wheels and tires painted up.... Thanks for looking. I'll be getting this assembled soon.
