harti20 Posted July 11, 2021 Share Posted July 11, 2021 Hi all After the rather nerve-wrecking build of my Lamborghini Veneno I decided I needed something easier to build. As I already did the same model (with a different livery) almost a year ago, I know what I have to expect. First I assembled and sanded the body Then I had to cut out some holes for the PE parts. Using a 0.2 mm scriber, some photoetched saws and some small routers that went really well and much faster than last year The undercarriage has been assembled and is waiting for primer and paint And also the roll cage has been completed and is waiting for primer and paint as well. harti20 Posted July 25, 2021 Author Share Posted July 25, 2021 Hi all The last two weeks I was almost exclusively doing stencils for the carbon decals and afterwards cutting them. In order to be able to apply them, I had to prime and paint the parts. This time I'm trying to paint the seat in Alclad Gun Metal prior to applying the decals, hoping that minor mistakes won't show up that obvious because of the underlying color. The roll cage has been painted in Alclad Stainless Steel. I didn't decide yet whether I'll use the kit parts for the cushions or whether I'll apply some shrinking tube The interior got its first few carbon decals applied. Unfortunately I couldn't do as much as I had liked, but it's a start at least. That's all for the moment. I wish you all a good start in the next week. So it's about time to bring this thread to the current standing. First the seat has got its carbon decals. Now it only needs the seat belts and its cushions as I was already doing some carbon work I continued with the diffusor and as I was decalling already I decided I could continue with the spillter The interior got its last carbon decals and some paint Then I prepared some parts to replace the shock absorbers After that the brake discs got their PE parts and have been painted Today the interior parts of the doors have been painted in Alclad Gunmetal to make some gaps in the carbon decals less obvious And finally the body has been primed and painted and is now awaiting its decals That's all for the moment. Thank you Actually I planned building a model that won't need that much carbon than my last ones This week I have only a minor update to show you. The tires have been sanded The front has been painted black, afterwards the paint has been removed from the fins. The greenish tint on the picture must be some kind of reflection, as I never saw it before. Finally I continued work on the shock absorbers. I'm not really sure whether the length is ok, or whether they have to be shortened a little. I think, I'll assemble them temporarily and try it on the suspension. First I painted the large clear parts, then I completed the roll cage. Today I started decaling the body. So far it was a quite easy task, only the pyramid decal wasn't that easy because of the curvature of the body. But with a dauntless cut with a sharp knife it was possible to finish it. That's all for today. As I am on vacation the upcoming days, I suppose that there will be more progress to show by the end of the week. harti20 Posted September 30, 2021 Author Share Posted September 30, 2021 Hi all As I had a few days off last week I had some time to continue with my Leon. Therefore today's update will be a bit more extensive than the previous ones First I almost completed the interior. Mainly all parts are ready and only have to be assembled. The shock absorbers have been assembled and put in place The rims got their color and the air valves. After that I placed the tire decals. Unfortunately one of the Bridgestone-writings on one of the rear tires broke apart and I fixed it wrong. Of course I only noticed that once the decal sticked in place... The cooler could be finished as well. Than the seat got its seatbelts, cushions and a small electronics-box. The shoulder belts are not yet fixed on the top. I hope that I can attach them somewhere on the roll cage or the interior once everything is assembled. The headlights have been assembled and got some PE parts which hardly can be recognized And finally the body got its last decals and some clear coat. I used Zero Paints' 2K Semi-Gloss that I already used before on my Lamborghini Sesto Elemento. On the Lambo I was very happy with it but here I have the impression that it turned out much more glossy than on the Lambo. I have no idea why this happened as I used the same mixing ration as for the Sesto Elemento. Also the spoiler has been completed and is just put on top of the body without glueing it yet. On the pictures I recognized that one of the rivets got lost somehow, so I will have to re-attach it. Thank you For the work in progress pics I usually use a large sheet of paper, bend it to some kind of infinity cove and use my camera with the flash heading to the ceiling to get some indirect lighting.
