Replica buildoff

Caesar, if you've pre-darkened all those panel lines with a black Sharpie or something of the kind, I'd recommend you get some rubbing alcohol and wipe that all off. It turns out that Sharpie ink will, over the course of time, migrate up through whatever paint is put over it and appear on the surface. I know, it sounds weird/impossible, but I've seen several very nice models (not mine) that were eventually ruined by this.Β

Calling it done! When I built it as a kid I used the centerline wheels from the β€œHeavy Chevy” Chevelle kit and used yellow sewing thread for plug wires. This one turned out quite a bit better than the other one.

Nicely done! I remember this kit from the 80's but I never built it. I had a friend from school who built it. For some reason I recall the shifter being in reverse? I aquired one of these in a collection of build ups... it's badly built but I think I can save it. I'm inspired to restore it now...Β

Also, I took twoΒ photos of my collection way back in 87... I would like to recreate some of them too.Β

That turned out great!

I think I'm going to use the same kit. Back then, I painted mine Testors light blue enamel, and built it stockish out of box.Β

I got so motivated by building this one that I bought a few more kits from my childhood, including 2 more Boss429 kits 🀣

I've decided that I'm gonna try to in on this one if you'll have me. The AMT 40 Ford Coupe is a favorite from childhood. I built and rebuilt it a few times before settling on a nice hot rod painted with Testors sapphire blue. I'm going to try to replicate it using mostly parts from the box.Β

Great job! I built one for the Cannonball Run CBP a few years ago, it's a nice kit. I haven't started my build for this CBP yet, I need to pull my finger out.Β

If its not to late i would like to throw my hat,,, errr,,, "Kit" into the ring. I bought it the first week of October not sure if it would arrive in time and just arrived at the Post Office today. If ending time is March 15 i think it gives me enuff time to put this together. Replicating a car i built back in late 1979Β as a young teen of 15. I had entered it into my first model car contest. Rule was you had to buy the kit from the hobby shop, 3 classes were offered and i choose box stock. I ended up winning best paint and i vividly recall all the others being so surprised a young kid could paint so good. Mind you with the help of my father i had already bought and owned a 1970 Vega by that time and had completed the body restoration on it and was finishing building a 350 for it, so i had some auto building experience's already...

If I can get another couple of current WIPs off the bench in the next 2-3 weeks then I'll be up for joining in. With the Christmas holiday coming up I should be able to get some decent time on it.

Question is, do I keep it simple by going for one of several Tamiya Hondas I built back in the '80s, probably over the course of a weekend complete with Humbrol brush-painted bodywork, or challenge myself a bit more with a NASCAR Regal? Only just remembered I have another issue of the latter, and it certainly feels like one that I have unfinished business with.

I think you have your answer πŸ˜‰ Save the Hondas for a rainy day πŸ˜†Β

My New year's resolution (I always make one centered around model building) is to get at least half of my stalled projects finished. I have probably fifty. So I'm in the same boat, trying to not start anymore... hopefully, some times you just can't help it. 😁 I just wiped out my local Walmart and I'm seeing a big stack of new projects I want to start. Trying to hold back and resist the urge πŸ˜†πŸ€£Β
