asfastasu
Let me start of by saying, I wouldn't want to build one of these again anytime soon. I was asked by my uncle to build a replica of a truck he used to own, and I wasn't smart enough to say no.lol Enough complaining, on to the build. I read on here about the low roofline on the windshield that makes the truck look like it's furrowing it's brow at you, and, once I saw it, I couldn't un-see it. I had to correct it. Best of all, the windshield still works after this modification. I added the lower trim to represent a Ranger Lariat model. Paint is Tamiya white rattle can primer, then masked off for Tamiya acrylic copper which was airbrushed on, then covered with ts13 straight from the can. No polishing as I was tired of looking at it.lol Wheels and tires are from the Dodge Ramcharger as the kit supplied ones look and fit like a dogs breakfast. mchook
I love the real trucks, but like you I hate the kit. When done right though, they can look awesome and this one is DONE RIGHT! Great job!

espo
Your efforts really paid of with this build. I like how you reworked the upper windshield and roof area. The paint and colors look great. Very clean looking trim .

Watertown
Gorgeous!! For all of your reluctance to take this on, you absolutely killed it! "(The) kit supplied ones look and fit like a dogs breakfast." I'll be chuckling over that for a while! Thanks for sharing the finished product (and the laugh). iamsuperdan
Nice work on a horrible kit! This is the only kit I gave up on. I have it in a box, about 3/4 done. One day I may finish it.
carrucha
Cool truck. Nice work on the paint.
Gerald Haney
great job! I am in the process of doing the same kit. I have corrected my windshield height as well. Like you said once you see it you cant unsee it. I like how you added the lariat trim along the sides of the body. Very nice job on that. Paint combo is very cool. bogger44
Excellent job on adding the extra trim, and the foiling, and the paint, heck the whole thing! You're right this kit is a pretty lackluster but with you're mods and clean building style you made a real looker out of it. Well done! asfastasu
Thanks for the kind words! Iamsuperdan, pull it back out and finish it up. Another thing that bothers me about the kit is the fact that it's apparently based on a 3/4 ton camper package, hence the rear axle being so far back. Oh well. Maybe now, 2 years later, the frustrations have disappeared. Maybe. 😛
