Oldmopars
So I just got the new 007 1971 Mustang kit. I watched HPIGuys video and he said there are 2 engines in the kit. One is a 351 but I don’t know what the other one is. Any chance it’s an FE big block? It might be a 429? Just not sure what it is. I have not opened it yet, as I don’t think it would help me ID it. Can anyone enlighten me?
Casey
Kind of a mish-mash, hodge-podge, but covered here IIRC:
Oldmopars
Thanks, I did read through that and it was confusing. As I read it, it’s a 351 and a 429 CJ. Any idea where to fine a 460 that would be correct in a Van/motor home?
Mark
Revell '70 Torino GT (and Cobra) have a 429, the only correct 429/460. The AMT late Seventies Ford pickups have always had their engine called a 460 on the box, but it is actually a 360...different engine altogether. AMT and MPC rushed the kits to market and could care less if the correct engines and exhaust system were included. I did an extensive review of this kit about a year ago on this site. Don't the Revell 1990 Ford F250 and F350 Dually truck kits have a 460?
Mark
They might, but those are 1/24 scale, newer version with fuel injection. For an early Seventies Mustang or Cougar, the Torino mill will be way closer in terms of equipment and an easier fit.
deuces wild
I gotta look at one again but, I believe it's a 351-W in the R-M F-250.....
Oldmopars
Well, what I am wanting is a 460 or even a 390 for my Motor Home project. I’m using the 77 Ford Van and it has a small block. I may not worry about it as the engine is kind of hidden.

Box says "7.5 liter"; that would be a 460. Even if it is, it's a more modern setup, and 1/24 scale, way different from a stock early Seventies engine.
