Model Cars Magazine Forum

Hello from nyc

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone - I’m a new member but I’ve been lurking for awhile.  Been coming here for everything from painting tips to scratch building tutorials and the wealth of knowledge has been tremendously helpful.

Made my first model car in March while looking for a covid hobby to keep me busy and I’ve been hooked ever since. Here’s my most recent build…a 67 GTX by Revell.

Had ourselves a nice little photo shoot by the east river.  She’d look way worse if it wasn’t for this forum so thanks again!

What impressed me on this model is that you smoothed out the seam on top of the transmission housing and on the bell.  Once the engine is installed, nobody will see that area, but this kind of attention to detail shows that you are a good and fastidious modeler.  I see many models (otherwise well-built) on this forum where that seam is left visible.

Appreciate it. I’ve seen it said around here by some of you guys to treat each piece as its own model. I’ve gotten a lot better since I started focusing on that - I’ve slowed down and really started enjoying the builds more too.

Welcome to the forum, Ryan. Outstanding model. BTW, did you take the pics in Queens?

Thanks! I took them on the east side of Manhattan. Right around 23rd street and the east river. Queens would probably have been a better idea - I could have gotten the skyline! Maybe next time

Hi Ryan!

Welcome to the forum!

I just have to ask how you did the plug wire boots?

They look very familiar. ;)

Hahaha I think you know exactly how I did them. Your builds are superb and it’s my goal to get to your level 🤙🏽

I'm just glad to see that someone was paying attention!

The GTX looks terrific!

For someone who's only been building since March, I'd say that you've got a pretty good handle on things, and an obvious natural talent.

Keep up the good work my friend!

Knock 'em dead!! ^_^

You need to post these pics in the "Under Glass" section for all to see.

Will do!

thanks guys!

Since you are new here, in case you don't know, you don't have to re-upload all the seem photos from this thread to post them to the "Under Glass" section.  That will also save storage space of the forum.  First start the new thread in Under Glass, then open up another tab (assuming you are using a tabbed browser), then go to the forum's website, (you should already be logged in), then left-click on your user name (upper left cornet), then in that menu, select "my attachments". That will show you a list of all the the photos you ever uploaded to the form.  Click on any photo you want to upload to the new thread. That will bring a photo viewer. Click again on the photo in the viewer and that will bring the original full size photo up in another tab. Now just copy the photo's URL and paste to the new thread. That will show that photo in the compose window of the new thread. Then just continue doing this for all the photos you uploaded earlier.  It sounds more complicated than it really is (once you do this couple of times).

Awesome thanks - that actually makes a lot of sense.  I actually just uploaded everything from my phone because that’s where all my pics were, but I’ll keep that in mind next time for sure. Appreciate the help.
