Modlbldr
I got some body and fender units off of FB Marketplace a few days ago. One of them was this Testors Vantastic fender unit. I thought that it may go well with the body from a WagonRod for a custom chopped 37 Ford Woody Sedan Delivery. I thought that for a bit more of a custom.look I would go with the smooth curved running boards from the Vantastic.I With a bit of swapping of the front clip and running boards all that is really left of the slicing is to fabricate the hood sides. Unfortunately, I am missing everything else from the Vantastic kit. Anybody have one to trade? Later-

Modlbldr
Thanks Fellas! Just had to work on something for a bit last night and this is what came up. Now to find the grill and hood for the Testors Vantastic. Anybody got some.... Later-

Modlbldr
Spent a bit of time on this one today. Got a Vantastic and Coupster kits in trade today with fordf-100 (Phil). The Wagonrod body is much taller than the Vantastic so I had to do some slicing of the body and cowl to get the hood to not look like it was sitting vertical. I didn't want to ruin the woodwork on the body sides so I stopped short of the character line when sectioning. The second pic shows that the hood still had too much angle, requiring another section of the body and cowl. The hood looks much better now. Now for the clean-up. gman
That cuts a mean profile- I like what I see so far, will be watching what comes next. I bought the Wagonrod kit when it was a new release, and always envisioned it with the '37 to '39 Ford headlight treatment as a fix to the look as it comes out of the box. Steve H
Nice work Tom. That section job really improves the look. As Greg said, it cuts a mean profile, makes it look like it’s in motion. I’ll be following along. Cheers, Steve
Ace-Garageguy
Yup...definitely liking the post-sectioning flow and lines.
Modlbldr
Thanks for all of your kind words Fellas. I made a bit of progress tonight. Got the firewall sectioned and installed and filled some small areas to clean things up a bit. While throwing a bit of putty I added a small strip of styrene along the edges of the hood starting from the grill and extending to the cowlso that the hood would meet the top of the body chrome. At the same time the styrene strip was used as a ledge for super glue and putty so that when sanded out would widen the hood a bit. The body chrome will eventually extend from the cowl to the grill with a piece provided in the Vantastic kit. Next session should consist of shaping the hood and making hood sides. Thanks for looking in. Later-

Modlbldr
Thanks Sam. For a build that I had no plan to do, I think it's coming along. Just started throwing it together on a whim to see what it would look like. Mary said last night that she liked the purple so I may have to figure out what paint that is and go with that color. Modlbldr
So, this morning I was curios about how much change I had really made in the body with my modifications. I dug out another body (the previous owner had filled in the wood) to take comparison shots. There is a marked difference so far.
