Jantrix
Wow. We always get some terrific custom work on the CBP, but this year seems that folks are really getting into it. Great work guys. I'm not yet started on the Riv beyond test fitting, as the hobby room is being moved to a larger bedroom. Flooring and paint first. Hopefully by next month.

Koellefornia Kid
#20 1978 Dodge Now that my ´68 El Camino is finally under glass, I can dedicate my bench time to my birth year ball contender: a ´78 Dodge Monaco. Here’s the kit: Bought it about a decade ago and wanted to build it as a crazy showcar/lowrider themed custom… ….and imagined tube grilles, maybe remove the center part of the roof Landau-style and open the doors with the rear ones suicide, wild paint job, blablabla… Well maybe I´ll buy another issue and build that at some time in the future. Now, it’s destined to be a coast-to-coast racer with the body left (mostly) stock but with a Viper V-10 power plant and interior parts. And it definitely shall look fast (no sleeper here)! I have a lot of ideas but we will see where things are going… First of all I deal with my favourite part when starting a new project: Choosing the right kind of rolling stock! I have three parts boxes full of wheels, so let’s test some. With a Dodge body,Dodge engine and maybe a Dodge chassis, at first I thought I´ll keep the Dodge theme and use some Dodge wheels Viper wheels? No. Sidewinder? Better, but no! Copperhead 5-spokes? Kinda cool but Im not sure about big´n´littles. Let’s try something else. Hella´s - dismissed. Hoppin Hydros - Nope. Schott Velocities? Destined for another build, so no. Pegasus Vantage - too elegant. Black Force smoothies - too old school. Pegasus Lightning - little too crazy. How about some more racing style rims: Centerliners - no. Z´s Wheels Bandits or Salt IIs? Hmmm, I´m getting closer… 23“ ChromeTs, Phat Daddies, Foose Nitrous II? They all look great but 3 of my last 4 builds had 5-spokes. Decisions, decisions… I think I will use these: These came from a Tamiya DTM Mercedes C-class kit set in 23“ inch aluminium sleeves and low profile tires. They nicely fill the wheel wells, are of racing origin and have that sinister, yet elegant look I’m after. And they remember the Daimler-Chrysler fusion from some years ago, so I think that fits. What do you think? p.s.: Sorry for the flood of pics...

Beans
That is a whole lotta wheels. I don't think I could ever make a decision with a stock like that.

Randy Bo Bandy
Well....... I'm back again this year to actually participate. I was making a bit of progress on the build and my mother passed away suddenly last March, so I was dealing with a lot of stuff and not motivated at all. I'm doing a lot better. I didn't really build anything all year and then I got some stuff painted on new builds. Finally got one finished in January and another one almost finished, but it came out just good enough for the case. Entered a contest just yesterday and I was impressed with the feedback I got for that car. I was fist pumping like Pauly D from the Jersey Shore inside😂. @disconovamanwas there and will tell you I was just not showing any signs of emotions. He's a cool dude that I've got to know really well in 2 years. So, I'm back and at it again to put my name on the board for this year's Cannonball build. I was going to do a VW Scirrocco, but upon further research the rear window was a lot longer on the 1982 Scirocco and the kit was actually a 1977. So now I present to you a 1982 Porsche 911 Carrera. I have no idea what I'm gonna do with it yet. I'll start cleaning up parts and figure it out. Maybe fuel cell in the front? Me don't know. Oh yea, all of yalls builds are going to be awesome. I've been snooping on the pages Edited February 28, 2022 by Randy Bo Bandy Picture
ybsluos
Hi guys. Mark here. Wanted to drop in and say I’m still alive. I finally started the Californian Toronado the other night. I would like to get a bit more done though before I pop up some pix. It got slathered in putty last weekend, yet to be sanded. Mine is an original issue and was a rather warped glue bomb so it currently looking unflattering. I’d like to clean it up a bit before posting. You all are doing some great and inspiring projects. Beans those are some serious looking flares on that Camaro! Build on my friends and I will try to get a photo or two up this weekend.- Mark
Sam I Am
There is some unbelievable work...and subjects being put together. Just wanted to let everyone know that I have not flaked...yet. lol I am getting my big rig community build project finished up before diving into this one. I have been collecting parts though. Some things have changed along the way, as builds usually do. The twin turbocharged big block arrived from Canada, and I found some C4 Corvette suspension to use. Wheel/tire combo has yet to be determined. Just so ya all know, this baby is gonna scream! I don't think you'all will even see my taillights until you hit California....and I am parked at the finish line with a cold snack in my hand. Tim H
I was being sarcastic. I have found something to build, I actually have two. I picked up a Chevy II nova wagon, and waiting on a 64 Cutlass drop top to come in. I started work some work on the wagon. Was working on the chassis for the wagon looking to cut it down. Low and behold all my saws have disappeared out of my desk. No where to be found. Replacements should be here from Micro Mark soon. The wagon is a 63 but with research I have found that they are virtually identical to the 64s. But the decision to let it run will be up to the powers that be. LOL Official entry will be posted soon. Koellefornia Kid
Little update of my ´78 Monaco build: I was thinking about painted bumpers but I fell in love with the massive chrome rear bumper... ...so it will stay like that. But i had my doubts about the stock taillights... Another member recently posted his stock Monaco in the under glass section and I thought I will have to do something different. That's why I sanded the lenses smooth and printed a backing for them to simulate modern, full width LED-style taillights: Very simple but I like it. I also resin casted a set of Revell Dodge Viper seats: Now I will have to deal with a custom interior so stay tuned...

Was doing some sanding last night and thought that I may have gotten a little carried away...nothing too drastic. just kind of what it would look like if a 1970 Camaro entered Lemans..😆 Really looking forward to the Toranado. Misha
Jumping into the fray with my 1953 Ford Victoria entry. I settled on the Ford after considering a number options available for my January 8, 1953 birthday largely because of Ford’s celebration of fifty years operation. It was an historical automotive moment even in light of the Corvette and Lowey’s Studebaker. From the stash I pulled out an original Lindberg release from 1997 (Car Modeler magazine’s Kit of the Year) to compare it to AMT’s recent reissue. While it’s great to have the kit available, it does show its age with softer body details lacking the overall crispness of the original. It is also molded in an odd sort of shinier plastic. The original body is in the foreground with the reissue behind it. On the left the original’s trunk handle is cleaner and sharper compared to the reissue. This year’s theme of building your birth year will be a lot of fun! Considering my age, on the threshold of seventy, a comfortable road trip across America, partaking with group of fellow gearheads, in a car the same age is made to order. The build plan calls for a minor custom body overhaul and a more modern motivation with the Boss 302 engine from 2011. Body to be finished in a 2 tone, most likely a metallic tangerine with a cream top. I’m a bit late having spent most of my bench time on CheZooom, the Corvair rear engined BBC funny car. Now I’m at a point when starting the Vicky will make sense 🤞🏼. Cheers Misha Edited March 3, 2022 by Misha Grammer
Beans
Not much of an update but managed to make some headers that will work and did some more body work. Needs a lot more sanding though Also printed out a grill and updated the radiator.
avidinha
#15 I got the interior mostly done, I just have to figure out a back seat. The truck is molded in red and the van is molded in silver, so I was a little worried about the red bed bleeding through. I went ahead and painted the hood and the tailgate and everything seems to be fine. I thought I had some bleed through, but I realized maybe I should change out of my red shirt and look again. More next time.
Randy Bo Bandy
Not too much progress really. Just filled in some weird spots near the rear window. Got it sanded down decent. Knocked down the high spots where the doors are to make it level. Forgot about the mold pin marks on the interior roof, so I just threw some putty on there and let it dry overnight and sand that down tomorrow. Other than that, I just washed parts with some Dawn dish soap and the toof brush. I was thinking maybe a silver color with a dark red interior with this build. There's a ton of black for the trim and windows. Kind of dreading taping that off. Good progress on the other builds too.
