Another member recently posted his stock Monaco in the under glass section and I thought I will have to do something different. That's why I sanded the lenses smooth and printed a backing for them to simulate  modern,full width LED-style taillights:

Very simple but I like it.

I also resin casted a set of Revell Dodge Viper seats:

Now I will have to deal with a custom interior so stay tuned...


I like the tail lights.  Real nice seats also…

#1 I have not goten the real fealing for the 635CSi so I might change to a M5.  Just bought the Fujimi E34 1987 M5 and the Fujimi 635 to steal the engine from along with the chassi. Will build it as many of my friends E34’s with turbo. My friend owned a 535 with 700hp at the wheels. An other owned a 540 with around 1000hp. Original from the outside except for wheels. And with a blacked out inter cooler they for sure looked like a sleeper, will be perfect for a cross country race with full interior.  Ordered the kits so I will update when I have them in hand but I will have to extend the wheelbase couple of mm.

I have had a chance to get bck to this build. With last years theme in mind it seemed right to hide in plain sight. I figure that the U.S. Marshals are in every state and that the state and local police just don't mess with them, and they rarely even know what they are up to. So, this SIIA is now part of the Marshal Service. US Government plates and all. 

I have seen quite a few Land Rovers with the aluminum tread plates on the front fenders. I liked it and so I made some for this one. 

Currently the wheels are un-painted and I am not sure about the engine. I may change it. I have a 3D file for a Land Rover 300TDI and a Cumins 4BT. I think I will print both out and see if I like one over the other. I think if the 300TDI comes out good, I will use it. It has much finer details and I think it would be nice to keep it all Land Rover. 

I will also be printing out some other interior parts. I have a GPS, Radar Detector and a Lap Top Computer. The GPS and Radar Detector will be in view of the driver, the lap top will be in front of the passenger.

I may also print out some bottles, cans, candy and food wrappers, to look like it is mid race. The wheels are also subject to change. However stock may be best for a Government vehicle.

Yes, however most people don’t know that, and recently I have see everything with a GOV plate on it including Prius. With “World” cars, what is an American car anyway?

But you are right, a 1970 Land Rover is straight up British.

Haha. Well, if it’s made in the US, the federal govt can own it, regardless if it’s an American owned company or not - states have their own rules, if any.  If it’s a US company but made in, say, Mexico - no. But, yeah, I’ve driven Hyundais and Toyotas with federal plates on them - assumed they were made in the US. 
 

And you’re also correct, most people would not:

1. Know there is such a law

2. Know where a Land Rover was made

3. Care

I just happen to work for Uncle Sam, so I am a little aware. 
 

I like the steel wheels on it, personally - and those Awesome tires.

#1.. So I have a dilemma. The Tamiya kit is,as some one mentioned, strangely proportioned, the roof is actually 2mm taller than the Fujimi 635 which looks right to me. Since I have a hard time with kits that look of I won’t build the Tamiya one. So question being.. should I build a rather stock 635 of the fabulous, super detailed Fujimi kit or should I build the M5? Making it with a engine would definitely not make it to a M5 but a 535 with the single cam head from the Tamiya kit…

While typing this I made a mock up to be able to say what to build.. the 635 definitely looks suuper good, definitely turns my juices on for building it. While the other one need allot of work to look right.

Btw I ad In some comparison shots with the tamiya. Not strange that I had a hard time with liking the looks of the Tamiya one. And yes it can probably be corrected by chopping the roof 2mm since that’s the height difference but it feels like there are other things that does not strike me right away that’s wrong with that one.

Fujimi 635 gets my vote.

Well, my new 3D printer arrived and I was able to get the engine printed. I chose to go with the Cummins 4BT. The STL was just of a basic block, no turbo. I found a turbo file and added it to the engine. I used Tinkercad to add the turbo, piping, change the oil pan, moved some things around and printed it. It is a very tight shoe horn fit, but it fits good. I had to route the exhaust up and over the engine to get it to work. No room to go down. 

I also printed some traction board, just not sure where to stck them yet.

Mine to. So some insomnia gave me an opportunity to glue the engine together. 

This kit is a beautiful one. Some filing and such but the parts are so crisp and beautiful. Head is only tacked on Enjoying this so far! Will start painting at next opportunity.

To me, the look of the 4 door is more stealth... but I like the racing look of the 2 door. The wheels are nice looking on the M5? I must admit that I don't know enough about these kits to decide which is best... but I think whichever one, it would look good with British livery. 😁

I can't believe here it is middle of March and I haven't gotten started yet. I have a pretty good outlook on the remaining build time though.

Yes i can agree on the stealth part. And that’s what my friends have been doing for years. Running that 4dor body with 700-1000hp engines, no one expects them to be super car killers! My friend smoked a R8 v10 when they where brand new, with four friends drinking beer in the car. 
The kit though needs some work to the bumpers to look right. And since I want a engine there would be that part trying to convert the Tamiya 635 chassi and engine to the 535. And it seems that the hood is a bit of a pita to cut open, so that’s a project further on.

A quick update on my Club DeMer entry. I know its been a while since I posted but I've been struggling with the front end and finally got it figured out.

The setup I was using just wouldn't work so I opted for separating the nose from the hood and fixing it to the fascia, then I cut up the front end from a scrap body for the headlights to come up with this. Still needs some finishing but I'm almost there I think.

On the engine, I designed the manifold cover as an homage to the original hood with the chrome strips. I'll add the chrome later.

The seats and dash are just mocked in, but most of the interior parts are painted and ready to put in. Well, except the console, which I broke today. Oh well, reprint.
