Three More '60's Super Stocks

I've had '60's super stock drag cars on the brain since start of the pandemic and have built twenty of them since late 2019, here are my latest three:

AMT/ Round 2 (Lindberg) '62 Chevy Bel Air 409 A/S "Northwind":  OOB except for Fireball resin carbs and Detail Master ignition and linkage parts.  Old AMT decals are incredibly brittle, I had to spray these with acrylic spray to get them to hold together.

AMT/ Round 2 (Lindberg) '64 Dodge 426 Hemi (the Ramchargers kit) - Dick Landy's original SWB car before he altered the wheelbase.  I used the excellent Slixx decal set and added Fireball resin carbs and Detail Master ignition and throttle parts to the engine and some after market seat belt parts and tach, otherwise pretty much OOB:

Moebius '65 Comet A/FX w/ Ford 427 SOHC - the Dyno Don kit car:  This one's pretty stock other than Fireball resin carbs and Detail Master distributor and plug wires and throttle linkage parts and after market seat belt/ harness parts.  Unlike other Moebius kits I've built, these decals cracked on me so I suspect there's a limited shelf life on the kit decals (build 'em soon if you got 'em!):IMG_4713.thumb.jpeg.bc1bc8b042dcabe70148e847da613260.jpegIMG_4712.thumb.jpeg.d89f95722d6b6ed9d58af3445a3df826.jpeg

I still have like a dozen or so sixties super stock kits in my stash so hopefully I'll post more in '22 if you like them.  Cheers, John

Be still my heart; 60's Super Stock racing filled every thought of my teen years.  These are some beautiful examples of the cream of the crop.  Now if you were to add one from the "bad boys of Burlington" - Sox & Martin, that would only make it better.  Please show us more of your work.

Thanks guys for all the kind comments and encouragement, a lot of amazing builds on this board so it’s an honor to even be noticed!

I do have a set of Sox & Martin decals for the AWB ‘65 Ply along with sets for Shirley Shahan’s Drag-In-Lady, Gumpy’s Black Arrow, Dick Brannan’s ‘63 Galaxie, the Seaton’s Shaker AWB Chevelle and Dick Harrell’s first AWB Nova all in my decal and kit stash which I hope to build in the coming months.

Fantastic builds. Sure wish that a 63 Pontiac Super Duty 421 Catalina was available for you to build! Can't believe the kit makers have overlooked those championship winning beasts. Would like to see how you could make it pop!

I agree Robert. MCW offered a resin ‘63 Catalina set but they’ve been out of stock for sometime. I would love to to kitbash a ‘63 resin body with the ‘62 AMT chassis to make this Arnie Beswick car:

With dark decals on a silver car, I might be able to do my own decals at home. Decal availability seems to dictate what I build as well as kits. When you look at George Klass’s website, it’s amazing how many hundreds (thousands?) of super stockers that burned up the strips in those early days.
