After a short conversation, @Rocking Rodney Rat suggested a more tapered opening and not quit as far forward as the old tonneau cover opening...

Sketched up a template for the leading edge of the new opening...

The pencil line across the back edge of the new opening will be removed initially and replaced after the rest of the opening is completed... -KK

Gotta keep reminding myself to come check this category of the forum… 😬

This is going to be the most epic ‘29 Roadster model ever built. We in the audience couldn’t have imagined where this project was headed. (You probably couldn’t have either 🤣)

Au contraire my friend... the '29 TNR is and always has been headed in the same exact direction!  Gotta love it when a plan comes together... what was not expected was to see over 20k views and the overwhelming support from loyal followers here and on fb!! @Rocking Rodney Ratis somewhat pleased with the constant progress and steadfastness being applied to this build!!!  @Speedprohas watched from afar with a willingness to step in, much in the same manor he has on the '29 Trib' PU for @tim boyd, but RRR is adamant that I carry this thru to completion.

So, on that note: Let the engine work begin!

  • 2 weeks later...

Thanks, Bil...

Been so busy with things downstairs that getting back up here has not been a high priority.  Sitting here at my laptop on Mom's old dropleaf table with my bench behind me, my comfort zone.  Talked to @Rocking Rodney Ratabout the eight-pipe organ powered by the '41 Lincoln Potvin Blown Flathead V-12 and discussed the corrugated exhaust pipes from the Beverly Hillbillies kustom version.  But both of us after box diving and second checking, they turned out to be a bit too big around.  So, back to the side pipes from the AMT Model T kit from wayyy back.  Here's where the cuttin', drillin' & slashin' all come into play:

20221125_123941.jpg.4906be4694c4c32be616a3a42bba52bb.jpg

Drilled & Pinned the first pipe to fit the block... really raw!

Pilot drill out the center of the pipe...

Tune the wall thickness with a bit bigger drill bit...

Code line dotted to guide the slash angle of the tail of the pipe...

20221125_131525.jpg.cb036c1e1caddc2ad299f34e6a414e3f.jpg

Following the pattern to the nth degree...

20221125_132202.jpg.9910f59f114bfd445354005afba67a51.jpg

From this angle the slash pipe almost resembles the well-tuned pipe organ...

A little more fine tuning & shaping will place this pipe right through the opening in the belly pan! -KK
