Revell VW T2 camper (bay window) Snap

Heres the contents of the new camper from revell. Its the recent bus kit with some new parts to make it a westphallia camper. All the bus parts are there except for the rear seats and it has the stock roof as well (which I wish I knew before I ordered another bus for the roof) The first pic is the van parts with the only change from the bus being the beige plastic instead of orange.

The glass in the kit is new, and feature the flappy style windows which passed for aircon in these campers

The camper pop top is new and I included pics of both sides of it

Like all the revell camper kits it can be built open or closed and the canvas has detail molded in but I dont think it will be visible after paint unless your paint is very thin

Again I include 2 pics to show both sides. The camper parts are mostly on the same sprue and look pretty good.

The final sprue has more camper parts and what I first thought was a bed is actually the headliner for the closed pop top

The decals come in 2 types. There is a basic sheet of stickers and a much better set of decals

All in all I think its a pretty good kit which will build up well, but it is also a good basis if you want to go for more detail. The engine while just 2 parts looks good enough that some wiring will really make a difference and the kit goes together in a way that makes it an easy enough job to do. I'm sure it wont be long before we some extra detail for this from the after market. There are already 3d printed bodies available for this kit if you want a bus or a van but the roof on every one of them I've seen is a bit goofy so if you want a pick up I suggest getting the hasegawa t1 and swapping fronts around as its a really simple process. Just cut along the door line on the bus and pick up and your most of the way there

Is this a new one? I'm going to have to get that one. I had the 1:1 many years ago.

yes, its new. It was released in europe at the end of november. I'm not sure when it will get to the USA but I expect it might have to be an import as theres no way it will fit the us boxes. Its one of those kits you open that wont fit back in the box

To be fair, I haven't made to the hobby shops for a couple of months or so.  Does Hobby Lobby stock them?

Hobby Link Japan is showing them out of stock on backorder, not listed on Modelroundup (at least I didn't see it).

Model Roundup has the regular T2 bus (orange) in stock, I figure they will get the camper version eventually.  Revell Germany releases have been very erratic and hard to find in the US for the last year or so, supply chain issues and other covid-related slowness I'd assume.
