absmiami
PR. Im blushing - [are guys allowed to blush?]. my inspiration for the Miller is / was the late Chris Etzell - when i bought his Miller 91 kit bout 35 years ago i wondered whether i could do that - turns out that - once I figured out how to work with Renshape - i was on my way …
absmiami
And Harold Bradford and Norman Veber [full fledged members of the resin castors Hall of Fame] get big ups here …. Once you make some good master parts - the resin cast parts will build / finish better - and who knows - maybe there will be a limited run kit …. [foreshadowing] …. absmiami
Having said the above - my skills are buried by the skills of - you know who you are - the “new breed” - who can draw and 3D print brilliant parts in - name your scale - although there is still a place for the builder who can fashion / make / turn parts in nickel and brass …. Because : metal is metal … apologies for the random vacation rant - back to our regularly scheduled programing next week …

absmiami
Thankyou Mr Nacho The frame, springs, and crankcase are at Harold’s - for casting - while i make the last few parts - including the spindle/upright assembly - the wheel is from the set oF wire wheels that Harold includes in his Miller 91 front drive kit …

absmiami
Gracias - now that my spindles are assembled i can check the width of the front axle - lo and behold - its 3 scale inches too long …. When i mocked it up - i had no drawings for the axle - there are none in the Dees Miller bible - so i was just guessin’ - and I guessed wrong …
absmiami
The tread on the 122 measures 52 inches - again this is from the Dees book on all things Miller …. So I rushed my front axle into surgery …. Razor saws and hand drill at the ready - sterile workbench [well maybe not] - and some bone - I mean resin - epoxy …. Removed 3 scale inches from one end of the axle - did not use any anesthesia- patient tolerated the procedure well …

absmiami
Millers all used friction dampers - front and back - if you are modeling unpainted dampers - the individual leafs look best in Nickel - but Im using a short cut here - i ‘ve modified and cut apart Brad’s casting from his Miller kit - the dampers on the Miller 122 had three leaves - ill find a picture to post to ill this …
