absmiami
Ive got some thick walled 1 mm tube - the hole is .012 - had it for years - almost never use it - but when you need it - you need it - start by filing about .010 down on the end of the tube - so there is a visible shoulder-

absmiami
Dept of Corrections: didnt want to be correcting / re-making parts in March - but here we go - my rear spring shackles are too short - the axle wont sit in the recesses under the springs - so i had to make longer/larger spring shackles - hate when that happens …
Pierre Rivard
Too bad about the rework, but difficult to avoid when you are on the journey what is essentially a 100% scratch built race car. A lot of nicely detailed components requiring innovative fabrication methods and in the end hoping it all fits together perfectly. Big challenge.
absmiami
stance is always a major concern on a scratch-build - ive done a mockup with the new and improved shackles to check the stance and things look good - the front mite be slightly higher but i can tweek that - so now i can do some more paint and assembly …

absmiami
The added length to the axles give the rear wheels and brake drums the correct amount of spacing / stance … and the supplemental friction shocks are epoxied to the frame - the scissors friction shocks will be added once i get my last parts shipment fr Mr Bradford …
Straightliner59
This is just beautiful, Andy. I think the stance is good, and those wire wheels are gorgeus!
absmiami
Gracias - those cool wire wheels are the work of my caster - Harold Bradford - who is casting some wheel spats that i made on my Sherline last year - they will of course cover the wheels - oh well - here’s some progress on the front suspension - finally got the friction shocks in …. absmiami
The Junior Special has had different finishes on the suspension peices -since its restoration - The late Mark Dees, and others - have remarked that these Harey Miller had susp components produced with a “gun blued” finish - so i’ve decided to use Blacken It - for a gun metal finish on the tie rod -

absmiami
There are some details to add to the drivers compartment before the body is glued onto the frame - added a brake line that is braced against the driveline - and a fuel line with a valve - and added a couple more frame members that the body would be bolted to on the one- to-one … and i made an oil tank that sits in the cowl behind the instr dash … amd decided it was time to glue on the shifter …

absmiami
Its classic Miller - with a cord wrapped grip and a teethed crank in the center - i think that advanced / retarded The magneto …. Here’s where I’m using a part from Harold’s Miller 91 fr dr kit - Harold used the steering wh from Etzel’s rear dr 91 kit - which was originally casted in wh metal - its real good - i couldn’t do better - the Bradford casting just needs to be cleaned up, painted, and wrapped with some thread …

absmiami
The decals were made by Gary at Circle Track Decals fr photos and my measurement estimates - he silkscreens - like the old Cady decals - so you lay on the color in layers - which of course is difficult for those of us who are decal challenged - but the color saturation is really good - and the white covers dark paint without complaining …
