It seems to cover the foil nicely, none of it has lifted, and I did put a really heavy coat on. I see from a bit of research (this can is entirely Japanese) that it should NOT be used over decals. NOBLNG Posted March 2, 2022 Author Share Posted March 2, 2022 (edited) Well I managed to get the stripe decals on. WOW…what an ordeal! Me and decals don’t get along too well. This is the decal for the nose.🤬 It curled up in a spiral that I couldn’t undo. Thankfully they also include the ‘70-‘72 style stripes, so I cut one of them up and made a new one for the nose out of four separate pieces. I cut the drivers side center stripe into three sections since I figured there was no way I could do it as one. The door section twisted on me again so I cut it in two and managed to salvage it. One of the pieces floated right up off the paper after only about 30 seconds in the water.🤨 Maybe my water was a bit too warm?🤔 The passenger side went better. I used cool water and managed to get the section on the door done in one piece.🥵 I can’t risk putting that UV clear on now for sure! Thanks for Lookin’! NOBLNG Posted March 8, 2022 Author Share Posted March 8, 2022 (edited) Well I finally got the nerve up to tape off all that trim and spray the XF-86 flat clear on the roof. I had visions of ripping the foil off with the tape but thankfully that didn’t happen. I managed to get all the glass in without getting glue everywhere. I used a glue looper to apply the model master clear parts cement. The under carriage has been done for a while now. I built this one a few years ago without any corrections just out of the box with some plug wires and heater hoses and it turned out well. It solved a small conundrum for me.😎 I didn’t like the chrome exhaust tips in the kit, which weren’t really available from the factory anyways, so I made some tips that are closer to stock.
