I need to have an STL file printed in resin.  Can anyone recommend an online 3D printing service?

When you download a file in Cults they show Craftcloud as an option to find someone who will print what you download.

I added my blower to it and got a bunch of options. It was about $5 to print and $12 for shipping. A body would be a lot more I presume.

A quote is free but you have to upload your file.

Good luck.

Posting another free file download.

This is a C-cab truck and frame that I wasn't going to post originally until I built it myself but I have a health issue I'm dealing with and realized that I have more projects than time.

I've printed both in both FDM and resin and they print well. I'm doing a wild custom for mine if I ever get to it. I hope someone will print and build one to post.

Has anyone here created (or might be consider creating) a older style galvanized metal garbage can and lid set? I would think once the AMT Garwood Refuse truck debuts, one could have no trouble selling quite a few of them. 🤷‍♂️

I have one, and I printed it. It came out great. I will post a picture shortly.

I have been spending a bit of time on Fusion 360. I started a few weeks ago and I am not to a point I feel I can make most anything or learn how. The fear is gone.

I tend to build a lot of trucks, and like the work truck look. So, I have, or wanted to buy lots of 2 hole and spoke type wheels. I have made the 2 holes and they are printing now, here is where I am at with the front spokes copied from the new 4070 kit.

That looks really good! Are you going to start selling files on Cults or similar?

Thank you, but no not yet. However if there is interest, let me know and I will do that.

Here is the rears. The center, the spider and both rims are separate parts. The fronts are 2 parts, the rear is 4.

Here it is, I put it next to a 1/25 truck for scale

  • 1 month later...

A few days ago, I printed a car I had never heard of before in my life, but as soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to find a 3D file of it. This is a 1965 "Pontiac" Vivant by Herb Adams. A one off car that he built while working for Pontiac back in the mid '60's and was recently discovered and restored, much to the surprise of us gearheads as a lot of us have never heard of this car.

I got the files from a fellow on CGTrader who goes by the name "Brunomcardoso". Very fine representation of the actual car, and he offered them in an .stl format which made things a bit easier on my end to not having to convert .obj files.

I separated the body into sections as I'm going to be brave and do opening doors on this. The frame will have to be scratchbuilt by me as the real car used some type of tube frame with a torsion bar front suspension. The front suspension to my eyes looks for all the world like something out of a MOPAR, so when the time comes to build it, I can at least find that in my parts bin. There are separate files included that do include the front suspension setup.......I'll have to see if that'll work with the scratchbuilt tube frame I have in mind.

Here are some pics of how it turned out in the printer, and then cobbling it all together to see how it'll look as a whole car.

As it was coming out of the printer............

I must have had a moment of CRS kick in as I thought I added enough wall thickness to the files, but apparently not. 🤯

P1017521.JPG.b7419152e5be6a8c149d4df46df86d12.JPG

Take II came out MUCH better................

P1017525.JPG.b951dddc6f9f168807b21ede48d48e05.JPGP1017526.JPG.9fb9059c8252341a3ca828a3cbb8b6ee.JPG

Now with the body parts taped together.........

P1017528.JPG.e6b142064c43242aa91b001a7e589f03.JPGP1017529.JPG.4200176e4ff2a2e35383d5cc82abf154.JPGP1017530.JPG.10cf6a6dce3f81fe3e5ef4c560c2135e.JPG

It was difficult to find out exactly how long this car was from nose to tail.......I had to guesstimate how long it was based on a Corvette of the era, and my scaling worked out quite well.

The real car...............

1965-Pontiac-Vivant-77.jpg.c9050d0356f3b25257af0a87b113da0b.jpg1582596934_2017ClassR1st-1965PontiacVivantHerbAdamsRoadster(photobyNathanLeach-Proffer).jpg.07dc1543451ee1522e7c04607efba5b5.jpg

The real car used I believe a Pontiac 370 engine which I've got lying around in my parts box. Wheels were the traditional 8 lugs of the period.

I still have the hood to print yet, interior floor and all the other interior stuff, grill sections, and cowl section with another part of the rear deck. I don't know when this will become a full WIP, but I like this so much I may do this one next instead of the '77 Olds Cutlass I have planned.

We'll see.....................

I've always wanted a Rotofaze distributor so I spent some time today designing one for printing. I have two 4 cyl distributors from RMM I'll use for the caps. They're what I used to measure the indents for the caps.

The first pic is a real one for those that have never seen one before, and the last pic shows it sticking out of a Y block I'm designing to give you a sense of scale.

Whaddya think?

This is the first I've seen one of these Dennis! Looks great!

If it's to be mounted pretty much like the standard Ford ones of the era, perhaps it should be canted towards the passenger side just a bit? Perhaps it is, and it's hard for me to tell by the perspective of the pic. 🤔

Perhaps. I used the pic below to get an idea of the angle and it seemed to be the same angle as the head, so that's what I used.

Realize too that the RP is longer than a stock disty, so maybe its that.

Has anyone seen a decent print file for a 66 Cadillac Coupe De Ville anywhere?  Seems like something @MrObsessive might have come across at some point…

I’m building a Johan ‘66 now…

…and the kit comes with a bunch of custom parts (like a lot of the AMT kits did too).  I’d really like to find a body that I can attach them all to without spending $150 on another rare old Johan kit…

Keyser's suggestion I think would be much better. The only files I see for 1965-'66 Cadillacs are here and here.

The one from Turbosquid is super expen$ive, and it's not quite right to my eyes. The first link you'd have to convert to a .obj file, and then convert that to a .stl file for it to be printable. On top of the other editing of the file to make it print worthy at all.

Go on Squir.com for the 65. It's $99. Squir is top notch. TurboSquid doubles the price.

Now if someone out there would do a file of this car..........I'd be all set! It definitely is a love it or hate it design.........I happen to LOVE it!

BTW, their prices are in Euros..........that puts them up there in price for us unfortunately, but still definitely worth getting. 👍🏽
