Completed Foose Ford FD-100 in Splash Paint

Recommended Posts

About a month ago I posted 4 pictures of 4 model kits on my FB page and let my friends pick one for me to build.  They chose the Foose kit.  I built it box stock.   It is painted in Splash Paints Audi Autumn Shimmer.  I have found that this model is hard to photograph.  I can either get the beautiful deep color or I can get the glossy shine/reflection but I am unable to get both at the same time.  I went with the deep color.  I hope everyone likes it.

You've got one fine looking 56 Ford pickup John.  That Splash paint looks so good.  Very nicely done.

Beautiful finish and amazingly deep color.  Did you have to polish it out after painting?

Thank you, Timothy!  Short answer is yes.  Long answer is as follows; after all of the body prep was complete I primed everything with Gravity Colors (Spain) Dark Surface Primer.  I airbrushed Splash Paint’s Audi Autumn Shimmer.  I let it cure and sprayed Tamiya TS-13 Clear straight from the can.  I let it cure and then knocked it down with Micro Mesh cloths.  After that I used Tamiya polish compounds.  Polishing was done by hand, no rotary tools.  I actually enjoy the polishing process.  It is relaxing to me.
