London Black Cab

Finished this Aoshima London Black Cab kit this week, one of five Aoshima kits given to me. I would have to say I’ve never seen one of these posted here before. Paint is Tamiya black over the molded black body, could have left it unpainted if it were not for mold lines.

Thanks for looking.DD5C2A2B-085C-47AD-A667-5B213D693A64.thumb.jpeg.92de47c88f3461598c4501e14f37a3d2.jpeg“The case of the bonnet open”

Yes, the instructions for these old AMT truck kits are pretty much horrible.  Nice job on your White-Freightliner.

I like the contrast in colors, especially the black stacks and running lights. Nice work.

Nice! I remember these very well with the suicide rear doors and fold down rear facing seats. One of these rear ended me during my driving lesson back in the day!

Beautiful rendition of the most recognized taxi in the world. When I bought that kit I was a little put off by the size, after some research I found out that the kit is closer to 1/22 than 1/24 so it looks bigger when compared to a true 1/24 scale. But it is a very nice kit as your model shows. Great build to be proud of.

Great looking build! I'm curious what year this model represents... I imagine those 1:1's were manufactured for a number of years.

Thank you! Sadly I've already thrown the box out that had some info on it. I'm thinking it said late 40' thru the 50's?

they made them from the late 40s/very early 50s right through til the 80s. The bodies didn't change too much in that time but the engines got upgraded quite often. Its also got the tightest turning circle of any car being able to do a 180 in just 2 lanes of traffic

LOL, I did see that they were required to have a 28ft (8.535 m) turning radius mainly because of a traffic circle at the Savoy Hotel.
