Tamiya Yamaha XV1600 Road Star Modified to a bobber.

Recommended Posts

This is the first 1/12 motorcycle kit I put together. My previous diorama was a Maisto motorcycle already built. This one is a little over due to all the tiny pieces to put together, but getting a hang of it. This particular model I wanted to take a risk and modify it to look like a bobber. Still work in progress. B180060E-F761-4804-BBBE-F3098DC15763.thumb.jpeg.18242251bf8ceee2441dea0d7ad64602.jpeg34062D6A-2DA8-454D-8506-47A778F65EF1.thumb.jpeg.2318dc9d00384b8504cec965aa9c18b1.jpeg2270848B-AF24-4F36-9C5B-B3636D4976CD.thumb.jpeg.0e8c014158f56fdfc659ecf96dc593b9.jpegDDBCC431-5958-4890-B9F5-024D877E39C5.thumb.jpeg.b109d7e639f12e1afc7876e734039646.jpeg179AD4EB-71EB-4437-97D9-978C870E86E8.thumb.jpeg.0479633e172b6ff4cdeb3ce563d7166f.jpeg3FBE35B7-251E-4262-856F-4A772B72B6B2.thumb.jpeg.bd86f83ef8cd0d4c44d96dfa7c02bc48.jpeg0C4DC227-83E5-406D-BD09-F2EAC84242CC.thumb.jpeg.56acfff93c2a4da71e0894f9df41e394.jpeg621A0441-DF0F-4099-AB58-9B5034712F8C.thumb.jpeg.17b299ba80914c3654e151db20909e84.jpegB2B8A282-0A9E-4F86-A270-7554D855FDC0.thumb.jpeg.391547bab9cf444a86838d825e482fe0.jpegAA33EA77-42CA-4AF4-B21F-72079A41A49D.thumb.jpeg.e6b130077bac7776744874a31af7b2e7.jpeg330F6DA8-ED91-44F0-A71C-A519B74D65EC.thumb.jpeg.4e347dad4d7ee00dcb0be1e6cb5e4c24.jpeg4FD0A7E4-792C-4306-B0AD-52AE054D7AFA.thumb.jpeg.3d33363b68bfc276c8cec9eb8e006e0d.jpeg90D2E20B-15DF-4202-B654-77E222D5A979.thumb.jpeg.ff953679b5ca6c46c6413fc896122dba.jpeg3EA6CDDF-3951-4F24-81A4-2E96101E016E.thumb.jpeg.ad7dde0770454bf760c93d4faf4790e1.jpeg453A58A9-197D-4443-A38C-F86078E9CB79.thumb.jpeg.12e835d8bdf3256a183ee0a962e9960f.jpeg

Coming along nicely! Wicked looking machine.

Thank you. It’s been a little difficult, but my wife just got me a set of magnifying modeling glasses so I can see the details better. Maybe my next model will be more detailed.

Trying out some weathering colors. Not blended yet, just starting to apply them. We’ll see if I can make this mess look a little better. Also, trying to figure out how to make the seat look less like plastic and a little more natural.

More weathering done. A few more details. My first kit I painted and assembled. I love that you can paint the parts individually and have so much more details than the diecast pre made kits. Lots of mistakes I learned from. But, lots of fun. 7E9EEB10-83B1-4819-896E-FEA5D9832CB3.thumb.jpeg.c720a01230009c97a2e9d2a812b02946.jpeg468A342B-345E-42BF-9D08-1FB70429E35C.thumb.jpeg.072f380f4271494eb64d91f9d429901b.jpeg0E07F31A-1842-427D-93C0-3ABC1CFA8154.thumb.jpeg.642ea0930f4ba8aa59fc068aa52e33b5.jpeg9DF3E816-B732-4969-BE0B-1483AFDE2C93.thumb.jpeg.3e894ab639b4afdfd323dccd2027bc10.jpeg32EF6D98-4DB1-4591-BC72-233DD74471E9.thumb.jpeg.a261c9f7836e9084c23702f7d786a5b5.jpeg620B1B14-46A5-4E06-9ECC-F82C19C1CB61.thumb.jpeg.7fab6b1a4433742d737d0ec8d0199112.jpeg620B1B14-46A5-4E06-9ECC-F82C19C1CB61.thumb.jpeg.7fab6b1a4433742d737d0ec8d0199112.jpeg09BE232F-7E76-4512-A763-F25649B40BEE.thumb.jpeg.e11056ee8e71faf512e3a5d981705f11.jpeg

How do you get the cables on and to stay on please?

I’m still trying to figure it out. The cables keep coming off. I’m might just replace them with wires, drill and slide them in with glue.

Yes I did that and it worked, unfortunately having a garden cabin, the door was open a few days later and blew the whole thing onto the floor. So most of the build is in pieces and the chain, which was the first hurdle is also in about 40 bits! So back in the box for now.
