Monogram '66 Malibu SS

Inspired by Speedpro's over the top build of this Monogram oldie, I dug out my build version (late eighties) and took some new pictures.  In retrospect, I see that I did not work on the fit up of the removable front as much as I should have.  In fact, I kept that part of the kit even though I put it on the Monogram 1970 Malibu SS 454 chassis.  I did not use the hood scoop because I wanted the carbs and blower sticking out of the hood.  Wheels and tires are from a set by Arii, featuring rubber tires and a satin aluminum finish.

The 1970 Chevelle ended up on a Revell 1967 Chevelle Pro Street chassis.  In this case, the difference between 1/24 and 1/25 did not matter much.2008_010570Chev0006c.JPG.2717064e5972c9a5d5895caf98ca0cbb.JPG

I really like this one.  It takes me back to my high school days when those cars were just used cars and they looked like yours.  Great model!  Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, that was the vibe I was after.  I drove a tubbed 1966 Chevy II on the street.

Man, that looks great to me Jose. I went the stock route with mine using the Monogram '64 GTO chassis and '70 Chevelle wheels and tires.

Looks cool to me , the way it was meant to be built !  Much cleaner with no scoop and those wheels & tires are perfect for it!

Thank you all for the nice compliments.  I still have the red one and another black one unbuilt in my stash!  For some reason I really like those Monogram 1/24 scale cars.

How did you do the hoodscoops?

Tim, I grafted them in from a hood I had in my parts box.☺️
