And, No....

20 years too late, and a niche choice at best. And a Curbside!  Much of the excitement on this one will artificially generated. Once the "Gotta have it First" guys make their purchases, It will become Ollies Shelf Fodder in 12 months........Even the Movie/Collectable Memorabilia market is limited. One & Done.

Tell me again how we "have to be able to get 9 versions" out of a kit to justify the tooling dollars? I don't want to hear another word from any model Company about how they "Can't Justify the Tooling Dollars" for a widely requested subject, because the 'market just isn't big enough"........

The TV/movie guys outnumber the car guys...that's the market this is aimed at.

And judging by the sci fi kits I've built over the years, they tend not to be all that picky about quality.  No matter,  A lot of things would be nice, but the big thing is that they do a decent job on the parts that show, and it's not like there isn't an abundance of 1/25 Mopar donor kits out there if you just have to have an engine and a chassis.

They aren't making this because it's an Imperial.

They're making it because it's the Green Hornet Black Beauty, which by accident of circumstance just happens to be an Imperial.  It won't likely be compromised by any ability to build a stock version.

Round2's marketing and production guys aren't picking subjects in a void and the entertainment and Sci-Fi market makes up quite a bit of their customer base. Round2 knows who butters their toast so I'm sure sure they are confident about sales expectations for this kit.

I for one am happy to see the Black Beauty coming out, I have a really crummy resin version I bought years ago because that was the only thing available and I was unwilling to cut up any of my kits to replicate it.

My friend was set up at Wonderfest this weekend and he said it generated quite a bit of attention, but again, different customer base.

There are many 1/64 and 1/18 Black Beauty’s that sell well. 1/18 is $150-200. TV and Movie with popular stars, done in 2011. It’ll sell like the others, and the 1/32 kit is not wonderful, dates to 60’s Aurora tool, and is still in catalog.

Big fan of the show when I was a kid and built the 1/32 version. Never thought I'd see a 1/25th scale model and the included figures will probably make me want it IF they're done well.

I seriously hope this isn't a joke because this has been on my want list forever.

It for real alright, this project has been underway for well over a year.   Jamie was finally satisfied enough with the 3D design progress to announce it.  Hopefully we'll have the first mockups of it to show off by this fall.   Still a small window to have it out by the end of 2022 but early or mid 2023 is more likely.

Thanks Steve. Entirely different demo than here I’d guess. 🤣

Don Holthaus laughed when I asked him to consider doing it. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣
Glad it’s finally coming. Figures great add too.

Steve, I know you might be limited as to what you can say about this one. Can you tell us if it's all new or if it will be based on the old AMT tooling? If not, I'll wait patiently for details :)

If it were based on the AMT tooling, then perhaps Round 2 could also bring back some sort of stock kit. While the Hobby Lobby Market might not necessarily clamor for a stock '64-'66 Imperial, I could see that subject having some appeal with the hobbyist crowd, and it also might be a way of Round 2 getting more use out of the tool, and if the parts were "backwards compatible" with the original annual kits, I could see them being used to restore older builts and parts kits.

Personally, I'm on board for this kit. The Black Beauty was a really cool TV car. I can see myself getting a few of these and trying different things out with this kit.

It is an all-new tooling. The old AMT annual tooling is gone to best of my knowledge.  Originally, we looked at also tooling up a stock Imperial at the same time, but it became too costly.  Depending on the final design we may be able to piggy-back a stock Imperial version later on.  Even as curbside, the plans I saw called for a lot of separate parts.  Once we have the 3D mockups in hand, more details will be forthcoming.  Jamie is leading this project, so my knowledge is limited at this time.

Thank you, Steve! I'm sure the design approach was carefully considered. At a minimum, the body looks good in the rendering, and the figures & gadgets should be boss. I'm looking forward to this one!

Will the kit include decals for the world famous campaign in Beverley Hills, "Margaret Drysdale for Possum Queen?"  It would be so over the top if a figure of a possum juggling Miss Jane Hathaway is included.

So, all new tooling money for THIS?

I gotta be the Stick-in-the-Mud here. I fully understand that R2 caters to Geezers, mostly. At 59, I am now on the very cusp of Geezer-hood myself. But a 55 year old TV Series that was only two seasons long? For a show that was Good, but never Great? They choose to spend money on this?  Maybe the Wonderfest crowd is correct.  But, truthfully, this seems to be (To ME anyways) the answer to a question, few were asking.

I hope it goes well.

Honestly, I’m hoping to see a non Black Beauty stock bodied version of this, though a 2”n”1 combo of the TV and Movie Car would be neat

I suppose you could argue that we missed our window on the Black Beauty, I'm hoping that we didn't and it's a success.  For those who think we should be doing something else, what SiFi and or TV-Movie Movie car or truck would you like to see next?

As for doing it the BB as a 2n1 kit, there's just too many differences between the Dean Jefferies design and the stock 66 Imperial to make that work.  For what it's worth, the design team was given all the stock Imperial details for future use.

Since you're asking Steve, I wouldn't mind a '74 Dodge Monaco, Bluesmobile/CHP/ Mount Prospect police car ;)

While I'm sure a lot of people welcome the BB, it's not my cup of tea, but wouldn't life be boring if we all would like the same,?!

Cheers and keep up the good work
