landman
Work continues on the continental kit extension. Thanks to a gift from fellow member Tarheel Rick, I have the proper wheels. I'll use a '32 wheel for the spare.
landman
Added a spacer to the spare to center the '32 rim. Rick's wheels wil work out fine. I have to do something about those whitewalls though. And we have primer.
David G.
You're putting a tremendous amount of work into this one Pat. All of it very well done. David G.
mustang1989
For starters, your neighbor's friend has a VERY nice-looking car. That's one thing that I've always liked about these older cars is the colors used throughout. Very eye catching and brilliant in nature. I do like what you're doing with this one Pat. Working your magic yet once again.

Dave Darby
Looking really good so far! If I might make a suggestion, can those Firestone Supremes and get either some Firestone Deluxe Champions, some old Trophy Series tires. They will not only look more authentic to the car, but will also be a heck of a lot easier to paint whitewalls on. This one is wearing the Deluxe Champions. They were commonly used in the AMT/Ertl issue kits. The skirts are cut-down 49 Merc units.

Does anyone know if fender skirts are available for this puppy? Or am I in for a fab job? Pat, I'd try using a set of skirts from an AMT '57 T-bird. Looks like they should fit, have the right curves at the bottom and look right with a bit of filing and sanding. Looks great so far, BTW.

The lines on these cars are very close.

So they'll likely havee to be scratchbuilt.

I did have a 49 Merc. It had donated its hind quarters to the couch. However i can't find the rest of it. Shame on me for throwing away something with "potential".

landman
Fabbed up fender skirts using the following method. Took a picture from the net, reduced it to size using Microsoft word, printed it and used it as a pattern. Used half round for the bead.
landman
Masked the car and shot the green....outside as this is real car paint complete with isocyanates. so shop coat, gloves and respirator. Looks OK to me.

Bobjernigan3
That is usually caused by something under the paint that doesn't mix... it's eating it... seal it with sealer before painting... not primer..

landman
The interior is different from the 1:1 I am trying to replicate. Maybe the kit is a compromise between different models of Ford.
landman
While the second white turned out OK, the removal of the masking tape did not. I likely forgot to de-tack the tape before applying it.

slusher
On painted surfaces I stick the tape o my shirt then apply on painted surfaces. Reduces some of the tapes strength..
