Mike C.
Which Tamiya lacquer rattle can is the closest match to Hugger orange (Carousel red)?
espo
TS-12 Orange, close but on the slightly lighter side. When Rust-oleum took over Testors they reissued Hugger Orange under part #28108. Got mine at Hobby Lobby.
Mike C.
Thanks Dave. The engine enamel I used on the Boondocker Blazer looks a little too red. seems like it could be a little lighter. I always have good results with the Tamiya lacquer.
NOBLNG
I don’t know about the Tamiya stuff, but this is Duplicolor engine enamel.
Mike C.
I think that's what I was using. Mine came out a little more reddish than I was hoping. I already ordered the Tamiya cans. I'm sure I'll use them on something. I paint everything some kind of orange. 🍊 Edited August 26, 2022 by Mike C.
Snake45
The Chevrolet Orange-Red engine enamel isn't even close to Hugger orange. Plain old Testor Orange, while not exact, is closer, especially if you're a believer in "scale effect."
Mike C.
For decades, I assumed that the Chevy engine orange was the same as Hugger orange. Apparently, I was wrong about this.
oldscool
This is Tamiya TS-
1972coronet
Why not just grab a bottle from Scale Finishes ? I just got a Preval setup for this purpose (albeit, not just Scale Finishes products), as an airbrush is out of the question for my situation (apartment dwelling, no compressor, etc.) at this time. www.scalefinishes.com/1969Chevrolet.html

Hondamatic
What about testors competition orange? Last year I chipped my paint on my schwinn orange krate and was told its essentially hugger orange. I also used duplicolor chevy orange and had to tint it a little yellow as well
