mark 23
I'm looking for some air cleaners where the air intake is turned to match up with the firewall. Most I have seen come with chevy small block motors, but there are others too. I'm building some 1st generation Trans Am cars & a lot of them took the air in from the low pressure area in the hood cowling. I'm also trying to figure out what material to use for those air cleaners that face forward & connect to the front cowl with what looks like dryer vent material. GLMFAA1
For the front air scoop piping use the flex section of bendy straws. greg
JollySipper
The flexible ducts can be made using the technique illustrated in this thread...... Mr. Guthmiller is one of the better builders here, and he found an excellent method to replicate those.. The backward facing breather can most likely be found in some NASCAR kits, if I'm not mistaken.
Exotics_Builder
On the first air cleaner, you are seeking a plenum air intake system. They appeared in some AMT kits (for sure). This one is from the AMT 62 Chevy Don Nicholson This one is from the AMT 66 Impala (original issue) Some NASCAR kits have one that goes straight back. AMT: REVELL I think I've seen them in a couple other kits, but always AMT as far as I recollect.

I have a few of the duel spigot air cleaners like you show in the 2nd pic. I also have 2 of the nascar style air cleaners that I scrounged from some 1/24 die cast. After reading some of the posts on how to make the flexible ducts I'm gonna give it a try as well.

Just thought that you might care to see how the ducts made by wrapping thin rod around a thicker piece of tubing came out in the end. I wouldn't hesitate to use this method in the future, although it may be a little more labor intensive than some will care to do.
