Hasegawa 1973 Mitsubishi Galant GTO (with an attitude)

Hey guys, I haven’t posted any WIP of this build since it’s on my Instagram.

The kit is a Hasegawa 1973 Mitsubishi Galant GTO.

This was such an enjoyable kit to build!

The paint is Splash Paints OEM Mitsubishi Electric Blue Pearl topped with Splash’s 2k clear coat. This color is soooo nice on this old school JDM Mitsubishi.

The hood was covered in Scale Motorsport Carbon Fiber to add a little modern touch to this classic.

I also decided to ditch the chrome bumpers and other parts and painted them in Splash Paints Gunmetal Metalizer. It fits very well with the Blue body color.

All window trim was done using BMF, and turned out amazing.

The wheels are Works Meister S1’s from dirty_customs_43 on cults3d, and printed by myself on my Photon Mono X. They are finished in Splash Paints Gunmetal Metalizer for the face, and Splash Paints Hyper Silver for the barrels. RB Motion valve stems were also used for extra detail.  Some Zoom-On brakes were also added for a brake upgrade.

The grille needed a little update as well, so I cut out the kit solid piece, and using some photo etch mesh…I modded it to look like the later model grille.

The front was also missing something. So, I took some 0.3mm styrene and made a chin spoiler that’s very period appropriate for this car.

The interior is pretty much box stock except for some added seatbelts, and a Zoom-On Momo Steering wheel. Carpet was also simulated using some black embossing powder.

Thanks for checking it out. Please leave any comments or questions.

On to the next build! F73DFA7B-1AEA-40D5-8959-63267F99970A.thumb.jpeg.445c3f31080020d0532f39c7b133a95f.jpeg

I always thought of these as "Mitsubishi's Mustang".

Yours is gorgeous! I love the color and stance, the wheels look great and there's some excellent detail work going on there.

Of course, your solid photography brings it all together quite nicely.

Everyone has said that about the Mustang lol.
The color definitely pops on this one.

Thanks so much man!  I’m still impressed that the pics were taken with an iphone lol.

Great model, looks like you made all the right choices… and had the skills to execute them! Am I right in assuming that you used metal rivets for the over fenders?

Thank you for the compliments! Believe it or not, that is the molded in rivets for the flares.  I went over them with a fine brush with some Tamiya Chrome Silver.  Turned out awesome!
