TheCamaroKid Posted March 13, 2023 Share Posted March 13, 2023 I'm shooting a 71 Cuda, to be a slot car drag car. However, I did 3 coats of Tamiya Lacquer and before I shot the 4th, noticed some dust particles in the paint. Sure enough, I let it dry, they are embedded. Before I move further, what is the best fix? The particals are only on my roof/top of the car. The sides look really good. I'm guessing just sanding the body down until the dust comes out, smooth out the sand and reshoot? What grit should I sand with? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

StevenGuthmiller Posted March 14, 2023 Share Posted March 14, 2023 If it’s not a metallic color, you probably don’t even have to re-coat. Just sand out the dust with very fine sand paper and polish. I was thinking of my specific example, but his shouldn't even need a recoat. I just wasn't sure if he was going to lay down clear and/or polish. Sand it down with 3600 and polish it with Tamiya fine polishing cream or whatever you use to polish your sanding marks out. Worked for me and looked like glass.
