1930 Model A Ford Coupe

I started with an old 30 coupe body I had and about 3 other boxes of Model A parts. Dug up a frame, some front & rear end parts and started figuring out what to do with it all. First I knew I had to lower the top a little so I chopped the top just enough to make it look better but not a crazy "mail slot" chop. Then I had to figure out an engine but I didn't want to build a typical everyday seen hot rod with a Chevy or even any V8. So I looked online & found a very cool overhead Model A engine and thought that that's what I wanted. I scratch built the front timing gear cover, side cover, head, valve cover and magneto. Anyway, work is slow but I'll get there eventually, this is what I got so far.

Like the use of a different engine.

Thanks David, I wanted something that's not the typical powerplant.

Awesome project! Love the overhead conversion on the A engine. Nice work so far. It seems that a handful of us on this forum have been inspired by that ARDUN converted ‘banger over the years! I wish I would have made a timing cover with proper horizontal ribs like you did. I just used a Chevy cover (Slingster dragster) so the ribs are wonky.

That's an amazing looking build Dennis. Actually, these pictures of this build gave me some inspiration too. I've seen them here before and loved them. I was going to use a similar timing cover as yours but I couldn't get it to fit right. Thanks for looking!

Look forward to following the build as I built up a banger with Cragar OHV conversion as aside project to my Boyd Tribute build. Just not sure what to use it in yet and it is allways good to see the use of a different motor.

The chop looks good too - not too much as you say

Hey Dennis, can I ask where the carbs on this came from?

They come from the most recent issue of the Revell Tweedy Pie T which included additional parts to return it to its original issue configuration. Among those are 6 Stromberg carbs with the vintage frog mouth scoops. They’re beautifully rendered. Below is the box to look for.
